I cheered a little when you got the Coraline book out! 😍 It is indeed a kids' book that scares adults more; it's plenty creepy the entire time (like, longer than you think it's going to be), but not gory, and the ending's good. There's actually a really nice audiobook version read by the author, too. He apparently has a theater background, so he's genuinely skilled at narrating, and of course he knew how he meant for it to sound when he wrote it. Anyway, hope you have fun with it when you do read it, and thank you for sharing it with us!

I love that series too. 💕 I had a part-time job at a B. Dalton bookstore while the series was coming out, and when a new book was released, they gave all of us pins that said "Please don't ask me about Lemony Snicket." I've still got it somewhere, because it was awesome. And I hear the author's "agent" Daniel Handler (actually Lemony Snicket) made his school visits for him, because it was too dangerous for Lemony Snicket to put himself out in public like that. So very, very cool. XD

Have you seen Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window? I watched it tonight (for the third or fourth time) because it was playing at the local retro house and I was struck by how accurately it fit what you were looking for in a movie. There's romantic tension but it isn't that sexual. The thrill, the mystery and the romance work really well together. The ending is neither sad nor over-the top positive. In my opinion it's a near-perfect movie. Your mileage may vary but if you haven't seen it, it might be worth a look (at least at the spoilers.)
