Sometimes it takes you exaggerating your accent like this to make me realize how subtle it has become in your regular speech over the years. Still super impressive that you're able to manipulate it like this! I loved every minute of this, I fell asleep yesterday night and then finished it this morning. I’m Italian, but when I was a little girl I studied for many years classical dance and character dance which is a mixture of classical dance and traditional folk Russian dances, my teachers were all Russian with heavy accents that I found so mysterious and soothing (at times, when they were not yelling at me for doing something wrong lol). I remember my mum braiding my long hair for the shows and events - I had such long hair that they had to give fake braids to the other girls to match! - and then wearing beautiful handmade kokoshnik like this one, we also used shawls for choreographies and I remember distinctively when older girls would put white powder on our face, pink cheeks with their fingers and last but not least beautiful red lipstick to pop out before the shows, at the theatre. So it‘s touching how this could be a nice throwback to my childhood even though I grew up in another country, I felt really cared. Thank you

I think she's not faking it. As a english beginner student, I can say that when you learn a new language, you must learn the accent and correct pronunciation of that language too. In the middle and at the end of the learning process, you are capable to "abled/disabled" your accent or something like that lol. I started learning English almost 20 years ago and now use it on a daily basis but I can't fully hide my accent. I can overdo it but not fully switch it off, which is a shame because I really dont like it.

I’m Southern and learned in high school how to modulate mine, and when I went to college nobody knew I was Southern unless I was really mad or drunk, lol 🤣 One of my teens mentioned not too long ago that I don’t have an accent unless I’m mad at all of this kids, so some things never change, hahaha! I can feel it come back when I visit back home or talk to people from home but then it resets after a bit. If you put a bit of effort into making it less pronounced instead of get rid of it entirely, you’ll notice a huge change, I bet 😁

I have a ruptured eardrum and nothing I’ve done up until this video has taken my mind off of it. My hearing is like being underwater on the right side, but at least the pressure and a lot of the pain went away this morning when it ruptured. Maria, you are a godsend! ❤️ This is so beautiful.

I think the kokoshnik that Maria's wearing and the one she puts on the viewer in the video might just be from Amazon. I was doing an image search looking at some of the amazing antique and traditional designs and scrolling down saw the exact one Maria's wearing. It makes sense if it is from Amazon, it would be a lot of work to hand-make two of them for one video. Or maybe it's just the same design? Her sister did clearly hand-make one though and it's stunning!
