My great-grandmother was from Wales and when she moved the family from Ohio (where they settled after coming over from Wales) to Upstate NY she brought an old bible with her that was written entirely in Welsh, and she also spoke it fluently. I really wish I had known her!

I really like school roleplays. I understand so well now what adults meant when they said you don't want to grow up and it's like a little escape. It nearly brings me right back there. A kindergarten or 1st grade roleplay would be really nice :)

I'm in my mid 30s and this was the first time in my life that i heard somebody speak welsh. That was a cool experience. Thank you Laura, thank you internet. I have the feeling that they put some welsh in the witcher series by the way. Every language is a treasure, may welsh live on forever.

JRR Tolkien based many names of characters and places in his fictional world, on the Welsh language. Elvish in particular is heavily influenced by Welsh. Both in the books and films. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Witcher is the same. Welsh has a very mythical and ancient sound to it. Especially when it is sung or used in poetry.

Fun fact: Welsh is related to English as they are both Indo-European languages. This is evident in the word "three" which in Welsh is "tri", which both developed from the Proto-Indo-European or PIE (ancestor of all Indo-European languages) term "*tréyes". Also, "two", which is "dau" (similar to French "deux"), all come from PIE "*dwóh2".
