‘Tingles’ or ‘chills’ originate from fight or flight responses. When we had a bunch of hair wayyy long ago, the chills would puff up the hair on our bodies and make us look bigger, protect us, or heat us. This is why a random break in relaxation or a surprise or chilly rush gives the tingles. Thats why its harder to get tingles while watching ASMR in a hot setting. Weird little concept

Actually it’s caused by rapid/sudden muscle contractions. It’s when your nerves are shocked into relaxation. You can only get tingles if you don’t expect them. However it’s easier for this to happen when you’re sick or cold
