There's more talk of magic here than there is in the actual quest- where you will demonstrate 1 spell to get in the building, learn 1 spell during a class, use another spell to knock down a wall, then hack stuff with a sword and get named the new arch-mage.

Most likely the students try spells on each other which will end up the spell target, the spell caster and most likely the poor sods within the blast radius dying horribly
