Still one of my favorite videos of all time.

You are a natural at being so natural! I would always throw books and magazines at family so I can hear the pages turn. I would stop and listen to complete strangers on a subway or bus when they are flipping through newspapers or magazines. But it's hard not to look like a stalker 😅 what's nice about your videos is that I can listen to them all day long and not feel like I'm stalking people. I just really love the sound of paper

finally someone who can turn the pages properly haha. other asmr-ists always pinch the pages like theyre trying too damn hard

Pinching/squeezing the pages to create more sound is kinda the point of ASMR. If turning the pages result in very little sound, it defeats the purpose of the video in the first place.

@@tristanhnl Gee, no kidding? Well, I have to agree with what Joel said. There's such a thing as trying too hard...forced...that makes it ineffective for others. For me, more often than not, the more natural the sounds are, the more effective they are for tingles. Sounds that are too hard and forced are only good for making me feel anxious, not relaxed...which defeats the purpose of a ASMR video. It's like someone trying too hard to be funny when they're not. I'm sure there are other's out there who can relate. And, just so there's no confusion from anyone who reads this...this video is awesome!

+StyxNyx1, I actually find the page squeezing to be very relaxing, it's not anxiety-inducing at all. I'm sure there are others out there who can relate. I was just presenting another viewpoint, since Joel seems to imply there's only one way to "properly" turn the pages. To each their own. By the way, I really like this video as well. I wouldn't call the page-squeezing in this video "natural", by the way. Listen carefully throughout the video, Johanna makes a conscious effort to do the squeezing. There are moments when she doesn't do that with a few page turns here and there, and there is a lot less sound. *THOSE* are "natural". So if you enjoy this video, it seems you like a bit of unnatural-ness as well 😉

@@tristanhnl I like a little unnatural but not too much. I like natural best though as it reminds me of back in the day, when we would have our quite reading time in class...I got the best tingles from the natural turning of all those pages! I don't know, do kids still read physical books in school today? Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't as it seems they've thrown out some things that always seemed important to me, e.i., cursive writing, the American flag, the pledge of allegiance...and what else? Pens, pencils & paper? Do they still exist? Well...I'm sure there's more. Anyways, I'm no dimwit, I heard the forced page squeezing but it wasn't too overly done to be a bad trigger for me. Natural is my absolute preference though...no matter how you want to twist it.

Ok, no more about page squeezing...lol. As for books, that's good to hear that they'll be around for awhile. I do NOT want everything in this world to be computerized. I'm one of those die hard's who still loves the feeling of a book in my hands and the smell of them, especially old vintage books. I love the smell of libraries. Speaking of smell, while I'm thinking of it, do you remember the smell of the paper that our homework assignments were printed on from the ditto/mimeograph machines? The teachers would pass them out and all us kids would sit there and smell our papers to death...lol...too funny! Those days are long gone but the memories will always linger. I recently met a 20 y/o kid who helped me get some things out of my storage and he saw a painting that had a signature on it, he asked me what it said and I kind of gave him a funny look. Bluntly, I said, "What, can't you read?" He said he can't read cursive because they quit teaching it in school. I couldn't believe it! Yes, I think cursive should still be used to sign names and perhaps professional reasons as well. Like doctors...they need to do their crazy cursive, {that I can never read}, to write out scripts. And some old historical things like, The Declaration of Independence, how will they ever read that? Oh, here's another thing gone from schools...analog clocks, they took those out of school too...WHAT!!?? I don't know but, I think everyone should learn how to tell time on a regular clock, they may need that knowledge sometime in their life. And, to me, no flag means no respect for our country. How do kids learn respect? Oh, right, they have none these days...or so a good majority of them don't. Yes, it's definitely a sad situation that will only become worse through the years. Well, I can keep going about all that stuff but that's a whole 'nother story. I'll leave you with a nice gentle page turner video by Johanna that I like...it's so soothing and is similar to the way it was in my elementary and junior high school years. It was tingle city for me in those days and I'm trying so hard to get that back. Okies, it's 5am and I gotta sleep. Take care and have a good one. Oh, by the way...I'm a she. 😉 Here's the vid I mentioned right above: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqLHcqxrh7SYmbs
