I know this comment is a few months old, but when your doctor okays it, definitely start strength training if you haven't already. I suffer from the same thing and my youngest is now 12 years old. I got off my gym schedule for the last several months, due to gallbladder surgery. Now, my sciatica is acting up. I can definitely tell I'm weaker in the areas that it's hurting. I'm getting back in my routine this week. I hope you are already feeling better!
