Thanks for posting this, it was very nicely done. I recognised much of the ride and it was full of fond memories. I can't wait to return and enjoy the cycling infrastructure again.

Thanks, David. I really should have got my act together to record something of your visit ... maybe next time!

Hi Donald, It was nice to meet you a couple of weeks ago whilst walking with my wife and dog in the area near the start of this video. I must admit I felt a bit starstruck and fumbled my words a bit. 🤣 After watching the video I feel like I've been on one of my regular cycles without putting in any effort. When my daughter used to come out cycling with me and we went through that tunnel at 27:40 I'd always shout in a deep voice "THE TUNNEL OF DOOOOOM". 🤣 I even got caught doing it on my own once, but it gave me and the passers by a chuckle. Keep up the good videos, Thanks.

Ha Ha .. I'm not sure I can handle this celebrity thing! It always surprises me when I'm recognised out and about but it's good to know that my videos are appreciated and to meet the people who watch them, so thanks for that. I do that loop or a variation of it quite often. It's a comfortable distance, doesn't take too long and the section around Easter Inch and back into Livi is very pleasant.

I have watched your KZbin posts for several years and am consistently amazed at the bike commuter experience where you live. Fascinating to watch how the types of paths changes during your rides. Do you know a web link to a cycle and Pedestrian network map for your town? It would be fun to refer to a map during your ride videos. I was inspired by your post to make the change to commuting by bike. Starting my third year of commuting to work every day. Thank you for the great content!

I don't think there are specific online maps of the area. In many of my videos you'll hear me refer to the Spokes West Lothian Map which is a paper map produced by the Edinburgh-based cycle advocacy group whose website is spokes.org.uk

Do you have a video where you talk about clothing that you use when commuting in the coldest part of the winter? Finding gloves that balance dexterity and warmth is challenging.

Thanks for commenting. I don't have such a video but it's an idea for one, perhaps. The winter gloves I use are by Endura and a few years old now: warm, fairly waterproof and necessarily 'chunky' but not to the detriment of the dexterity needed to ride.

@@lostinlivi thank you for sharing the gloves you use. I just ordered a pair 👍

Watching this sat at home recovering from a small crash after sliding on wet leaves (twisted ankle)😢
@lostinlivi3 ай бұрын
Ouch! ... Is your bike OK? 😉 Seriously, that's a shame. I hope you recover well and can get back on the bike soon. Wet leaves, particularly on a hard surface offer not much more resistance than black ice! I came off on ice a few years ago and broke a rib. Made me very aware of how much longer things take to heal as I grow older. I'm much more wary of anything that's potentially slippy now.

Bike is good, just put my foot down for balance and rolled over on my ankle. Good enough healing for work tomorrow 😊

Hi lost in livi! I’m new to west lothian ( mid Calder) could you point me in the dire direction of a bike shop which won’t take the mick out of me price wise. I’ve got mtb which I want serviced and checked over. Many thanks Keep up the content

Hi Shaun, thanks for commenting. 3 local bike shops to check out: Pumpherston - herbiesbikes.co.uk , Dedridge East - scotcycles.com , West Calder - pedalpower.org.uk . These are just pointers based on reputation - I do all my own servicing! Pedal Power might be a bit pricey. Alternatively, West Lothian Bike Library offer a basic check, lube and adjust service for £45 but sometimes that can be funded through Cycling UK so 'free'. Any parts required would usually be special order and charged for extra. WLBL is a volunteer run non-profit currently only open 9:00-13:00 Mon-Thursday so you'd need to be able to fit around that. The volunteers (I'm one) are mostly Velotech trained retired auld bufties who like to tinker with bikes! wlbikelibrary.co.uk Hope that helps.
