Because this part causes infection to the shell that it can easily fall apart, so removing the lip is what makes it immortal

You can totally blow into a conch shell, I used to have one. It was very loud. You blow it like a trumpet, it's all about embouchure. In fact, now that I look at yours, mine must have been made that way because instead of that spiral top it had a hole bored into it.
