JOJO IS LYING! This visit isn't taking place in the 1950s and I can prove it. In fact, I know exactly what year this is taking place. (Tldr at the end) List of "historical landmarks" and relevant details. Color TV: While they were sold in the US in the 1950s it was uncommon to see one due to their price. They became more common in the mid 1960s. Color broadcasts in Europe began around the mid 1960s, with the first broadcast in the UK beginning in 1967. The Moon Landing: The Apollo Program, the goal of which was to land a man on the moon, began in 1961. Apollo 11, the first mission to succeed, took place in 1969. The Beatles: The formation began in 1956 and the main four (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison) had come together byJanuary of 1960 but only began using going by the Beatles in August. Their first big hit was in late 1962 and they became internationally famous by 1964. Tensions rose in the late 1960s and the group and in 1970 Paul McCartney left the group. The Beach Boys: They wrote and released their first big hit in 1961. They gained widespread popularity but over time their music changed. They began to lose popularity in the late 1960s and while members changed over time they are still touring today. The Monkees: The band as formed in the mid 1960s. Both their first single and album were released in 1966, both if which found great success. Similar to the Beatles, tensions within the group led to their separation in 1970, with Peter Tork being the first to leave in either late 1968 or early 1969. So, time to piece this all together. Despite the title saying 1950s, all evidence seems to suggest this takes place in the late 1960s. None of the bands mentioned even existed in 1950 and the Monkees only formed and rose to fame after 1965. That, combined with the mention of the Apollo 11 mission puts us at in the late 1960s. Proof that this is not a 1950s barbershop visit. There's just one issue. Jojo says that "...the Beatles are coming at the end of this year." But the last Beatles concert that took place near the end of the year was in 1965, before the Monkees were even formed. Maybe this *_is_* just fictional, and Jojo didn't really think every last tiny detail through... *OR DID HE!?* There's one performance that took place in December, after the Monkees became popular that fits. A UNICEF charity show in that had John Lennon and George Harrison. Two members of the Beatles, performing live, at the end of the year, after the Monkees and Beach Boys became popular. And the cherry on top... it's the same year that Apollo 11 launched. 1969. I am *not* crazy. I *know* he planned this. The Beatles are a _legendary_ band. They formed in the 1960s. As if Jojo could ever make such a mistake. Never. _Never!_ I just didn't know how to prove it. He mentioned the Beach Boys and the Monkees. You think that's bad? _That?_ _That inaccuracy?_ The moon landing! Are you telling me that I just _happen_ to find a performance that lines up with that? No, *_he_* planned that! Jojo! Thanks for taking the time to read this. I had planned at first to simply list the things that he mentioned and whether or not they line up with the 1950s. But as I looked into I decided to try to find a time that would make sense. I almost had everything lined up but thought it was over once I noticed that Jojo said "at the end of this year". At first I thought I could use the rooftop concert as my proof and say that he heard about it through rumors. But then I found a performance that could fit and it lined up perfectly with the moon landing too. At that point I just had to make an over the top comment piecing everything together. I hoped you enjoyed my needlessly in-depth research turned into theorist level rant, ultimately culminating in a Better Call Saul reference. I'd love for Jojo to see this and change the title, but I doubt that'll happen.
