Stow are amazing boots, I've got a pair in Acorn, and just purchased another pair, this time the new Kudo leather. I also own Burford, and three pairs of Henry, one amazing patina, 30 years old, Blue suede and just bought a pair in brown, only worn once from eBay. The best a man can get in my humble opinion.

Yeah....it is a great vid. Solid pair of boots. After buying a bunch of wax I am torn on using it. Maybe just the cream. I think the wax seals too much. Enjoy those beautiful boots.

Thanks Alex. Do bear in mind a small amount of wax, not mirror shine, all over the boot do provides protection against moisture and dirt. Thanks for checking the video and for your kind comments.

Thanks for the great tutorial videos and information. Once wax is applied, cream no longer soaks into the leather in those areas that wax was applied. So when shoe cream is used again to moisturize the leather, would you normally then strip off the wax, apply cream, then re-wax? Nobody seems to talk about this.........thanks in advance!

@@alexpearson8481 Thats a great question, I suppose its a matter of what happens. Say you rotate the boots for a week and that you brushed in the morning prior to wear them, you can easily get 3 brushing instances in a week, which might not be enough to wear off the wax so if you were to decidedly go to the whole process again you might need to strip all of the wax first to condition them again. Then again unless you are seriously abusing the boot I dont think more than 2 or 3 full conditioning instances per year are necessary.

Thanks! Agreed. I’m caught in a conflict. Lol. I like the shine that the wax provides but then I don’t like the fact that it seals the boots so the polish can’t soak in for the future. I’m very careful on my footwear. Anyway great job on those trickers! They looked fantastic when you were done with them. It’s exact pair I want to buy next. Are they yours? If so how do you like them?

@@alexpearson8481 I love this pair too! Yes they are mine. I like them a lot, specially since they are different from the boots made in the US. I like how comfortable they are and how they look in that acorn color, cant recommend them enough!

Nice vid. Just a question... what is the cream you apply on the inside in the beginning, and what effect does ot have?
@ourshoeshineblog80353 жыл бұрын
Hello Doctuer Joseph. Thanks for checking the video. The product used is Saphir Universal Cream, the reason for it is that this particular pair of boots have a leather liner, that is a leather component that stands between the upper and the sock. Since the lining is made of leather is an area which one should also condition every now and then as to help maintain that leather pliable and supple. Remember that the lining is part of the structure of the boot/shoe and it can also impact positively or negatively how comfortable a shoe is. For the most part liners are exposed to a lot of moisture in the form of foot transpiration, shoe trees help remove that moisture but a cream helps the leather remain healthy.

Own this exact pair, the quality of the leather is amazing. At present I only use Saphir neutral cream but looking at getting leather cleaner of some sort. Any recommendations?
@ourshoeshineblog80352 жыл бұрын
Hello God Is In the Detail, thanks for checking the video. The Stow are such a good looking pair of boots. As for cleaners, it will depend on use, if they exposed to dirt, salt, etc. To play it safe Saphir's saddle soap would be a good road. Would you mind sharing a little more? Maybe add Saphir's neutral wax or even their yellow wax to protect the leather too.

@@ourshoeshineblog8035 I use mirror polish from saphir but only on oxfords. Renomat seems to be the solution for cleaning from reading more. I have read some say Renovateur is too harsh and looked at Bicks leather conditioner but its too expensive in UK. I would like to try dye at some point as well, but on cheaper boots to begin with. Would be concerned about ruining the lovely soft feel of this leather.
@ourshoeshineblog80352 жыл бұрын
@@MindbodyMedicsorry perhaps my statement was confusing, you should consider waxing 2 or 3 passes not to mirror shine but to protect and make cleaning easier. Renovator is not too harsh if you apply it by small amounts and cover small areas at a time, yet that is more for conditioning that cleaning. Renomat I would not suggest to clean as it might be too aggressive. Dye is so much fun but it is also a patience game, it lets you get closer to any particular color you might want. For the stow I would suggest let normal wear and tear develop a patina.

Is it worth or do folks do this level of treatment on a brand new pair of Stow country boot (acorn)? Looking at getting my first pair.
@ourshoeshineblog80353 жыл бұрын
On new shoes, it is suggested that you condition the shoes as one can never really tell when was the last time since their production that the leather has been cared for. Plus if one consider application or what will the boots or shoes be used for, if you think they will face dust or liquids then aside from conditioning a layer of wax can also be suggested to protect the uppers. If the boots/shoes have already enter your rotation, and depending on wear frequency a full treatment i.e. deep clean, conditioners etc might only be needed once or twice a year. Basic maintenance like dusting with a brush after wear is enough between wears. Boot/shoes trees are always suggested after each wear.
