i don’t know why but i was really touched by the throwaway comment of valley girl being upset about claire shaming a girl for not wearing makeup… as someone who made the personally freeing choice to go makeup-free for a few years now it’s very validating to hear that from the mouth of someone so clearly interested in & talented at makeup, fashion, and appearance. just rly warmed my heart and made me feel sort of more ok about myself to imagine such a cool and stylish girl defending the right of other girls to appear differently

you can be cool and stylish without makeup 🙂 hope nobody bothers you about that; I almost never wear makeup for some years now and most people I know don't bother anymore since the start of the pandemic. This video was legitimately healing. I was bullied by popular girls from grade school on. Often times, they'd pretend to want to be my friend and then laugh at me for "falling for it" or mock me for being socially inept. Through this video, I kept waiting for the ball to drop, waiting for her to start snickering and poking. And it just didn't happen. Maybe people can be nice. Even if it's just a scripted video, it feels nice to have my expectations upended and for this to legitimately just be a hypothetical pleasant interaction between two students. I hope some girl out there gets this sort kindness from one of her peers today and I hope I can share this type of kindness with others in my daily life. Thank you.

@kalindastrome21828 күн бұрын
@ no worries! I think it’s mostly an American English thing and it might be kinda outdated as a term now? Basically it refers to a girl who prefers traditionally ‘masculine’ things including in terms of clothes, hobbies, friends, etc. it’s typically used to describe kids rather than adults in my experience. Some tomboys grow up to be butch lesbians or some other sort of queer women, some grow up to be straight women of varying gender presentations, some grow up to be trans men or nonbinary. I find it useful as a word to describe myself as a child bc I was gender non-conforming in a way that meant I wasn’t included in some of the stuff that ppl generally assume what childhood would have been like for you if you’re assigned female at birth like me

I’ve been in school musicals and plays and stuff, but I really hope to continue, maybe even on screen and be an actress for a living. When she asked this question, I didn’t say anything aloud, but in my head I thought ‘acting, that’s what I wanna do’, and when she said “acting? Wow! That’s fun! That does seem perfect for you actually” and then she goes on complimenting you my heart literally bursted with joy and I couldn’t stop smiling. I didn't think it was possible to make a valley girl that was able to be simultaneously narcissistic and kind, but you somehow pulled off a sort of post-movie Cher from Clueless type of deal and that really works. The interaction is adorable and the sounds are wonderfully tingly, thank you so much.

This kind of personality is both overwhelming and really interesting to me because it has the confidence and energy of someone who would be a stereotypical "mean girl" but they're genuinely nice and while they brag about themself they also make sure to point out all the good things in other people too. I think it's only overwhelming to me cuz Im not really used to it and Im usually the type of person to really avoid bragging so yeah. I had long hair when I was little. I made the mistake of telling a younger kid in daycare that she could play with my hair and then reading a book instead of paying attention to what she was doing. Ended up with Knex tangled all through it because she “made a comb.” Of course, as soon as I was old enough that washing and brushing my hair became my responsibility, I asked to get it cut short. Mom let me. Didn’t grow it out again until just recently, and even as an adult… a year in and I was like, “yeah this looks nice and all but would be so much easier short” and chopped it all off again.
@Peepawpeep2 жыл бұрын
