Omg I can't believe my ears. When I told my parents about this they said "it's not our fault you're a psycho, not everything you do to differentiate yourself has a scientific name" after showing them a medical article about misophonia. They forced me to eat with them AND my dad would make louder noises on purpose
@harrowingseer

That's awful. Your parents aren't understanding at all and it's so awful that they used psychosis in such a stigmatized way; let alone misuse it. It's all the more awful that they forced you to eat with them + make louder noises. If you don't mind me asking, and if it's insensitive please let me know I don't wanna be offensive or anything like that, but how did you cope with the sounds? I don't have misophonia, and I've only heard of it now, but I can't imagine that. I struggle with certain sensory stuff. I just get the utmost frustrated, angered and upset at weirder noises, and I can only imagine how dogshit that was to experience.

@@rahhhh111 oh wait until you hear about them asking me for gas money otherwise they won't drive me to work (whenever I have some) lol and calling me shallow, materialistic and selfish and how generous they are for paying for the electricity and water I use ;) and how it's totally normal for them to use my stuff that I bought with my hard earned money because they've fed me since I was a baby and how I'm not entitled to be taken to a hospital after vomiting blood daily for almost 2 years unless I do more of their school work and how selfish it is of me to ask for an allowance and incredibly inconsiderate to buy myself clothes, food when they won't and how they're allowed to buy themselves any amount of clothes or luxury items because "it's their money not mine" while I was wearing the same shoes for 7 years in a row. Want me to keep going?

I’m so grateful my parents are so supportive. My family is happy for me to eat when and where I’m comfortable whether if it’s around them or not. I don’t think I have misphonia but I have autism and sensory processing disorder and I really hate background noise whether if it’s the lights or the fridge or cutlery scraping on a plate, etc. this made me feel so much better

This helped me a lot. I have Autism and it’s hard for me when I listen and hear teeth clicking or nail tapping. At times even vibrations from a hair dryer or a blender hurts. Not just my ears but my skin as well. This made me feel that I am not alone. And that it is ok for me to stim to help calm me down in moments I panic or my anxiety goes too much. Thank you Cardlin for this means a lot

I love you Cardlin, that's a given. I'm not meaning this in any disrespectful way whatsoever, but the condition is spelled MisOphonia and its issues with more than just eating sounds, although eating sounds is the most common trigger for most people. Just thought you should know, but it doesnt reduce the amount of enjoyment and comfort I got from the video. Thank you :)

My mother must be the loudest eater in the whole universe. I imagine I could hear her from a room over. We used to have fights about it. The only thing that has helped me mellow out over the years, is literally just having compassion for the person making the noise thats driving me crazy. It looks something like this, "Look at that person over there eatin' those chips. They look like they're having a good time, living it up. The chips look good too. It's kinda cute how happy they look right now." If that doesn't work, I just try making the same noise that's bothering me. Kinda puts me back in control. It's weird, but I think it stems from my brain not being able to predict the repetitive noise. If it were music or something, it probably could. But when it's something random like someone chewing or clicking a pen, there's no rhyme or reason to it. My brain hones in on the noise even more, making it seem louder and louder until it's all there is. It sucks to be that person who has to flee the room, so I try to control it as much as I can. Oh, and headphones are a godsend ;)

As a person with Misophonia it is nice to hear an audio that is geared towards us. The listener brings up so many valid points, with regards to multiple triggers, not just with eating sounds. It's so much more than that. I wish more people could understand what people with miso go through. Every single day is a possible trigger-filled waiting game.

growing up with misphonia and narcissistic parents is hell. if you mention it to them, they’ll just do it louder in order to make fun of you, which makes it even worse. so you just learn to shut up and try not to look bothered by it. thank you Cardlin, for actually caring.

I hate it because whenever I’m trying to enjoy dinner with my family the chewing noises are so annoying and loud. They make me feel all gross and yucky inside. The worst part is that it makes me so incredibly angry and I end up lashing out at my brother and saying really mean things to him-because he’s fucking chewing. Like everyone chews and eats food why am I such an ass about it? Anyways thank you lots for this video

very recently ive started developing sensitivity to certain sounds like this and it could just be because of my anxiety but its been driving me insane and this actually made me feel a lot more valid :’) the other day it was horrible, i was already super anxious at school and someone had to have taken like 100 pieces of paper towel from the dispenser and i was covering my ears very aggressively trying to drown out the sound and i could still hear it😭
