I love how pragmatic you are Mauve ❤ I am not planning wedding but i loved listenjng to this! I got married fairly young & very quickly. My wedding was planned and executed in 4 weeks. Looking back, I cannot imagine having a longer time to plan at that time in my life. I had to be super creative, we had a really strict budget, but it was honestly a lovely time for everyone and guests sort of collaborated to make the day really cool. We did a brunch buffet because we didnt wanf to deal with some familial substance issues, and it worked nicely. It's possible to do it your own way!

Thanks so much for this! I'm in the thick of wedding planning myself after more than eight years with my partner. We're not terribly fussy and just want everyone to have a great time, but a huge percentage of our guests will be traveling from out of state to meet us in the city we call home, so there will be a lot of work going into making sure everyone feels comfortable and that we get to do as much as possible in this once-in-a-lifetime weekend of having so many of our loved ones here. So with that as our guiding star, we can't be as casual or minimalist in our approach as we might otherwise be. It's also tricky because I really don't connect with how a lot of people talk about or approach weddings. It can feel impossible to find advice that suits the situation or vendors who "get it" (think: finding a photographer who understands the aesthetic and is body positive, picking a DJ when I am sooo particular about music, etc). Not to mention, so much of the wedding industry seems to assume a hard dial between "elaborate pretty princess mode" and "carefree elopement mode" with little space in between. I'm so grateful our family and friends have been supportive so far, and I know we can do whatever we want, but I wish the entire wedding industry would get turned on its head to make way for more varieties of couples and events. The heteropatriarchal stuff is not doin it for me. All that to say, it was very reassuring to hear your approach to this. Thanks again 💖

So glad I could help! Also YES, agreed on what you said about the dial being all the way hoopla or all the way chill. It won't help you with vendors but I found some good posts on A Practical Wedding that helped me feel less adrift. Wishing you a happy, seamless, and stress-free wedding day. Mauve!!! My partner n I are visiting BA in March to visit family. He’s from there, but has never been back as an adult adult. Can u recommend any cool, artsy fartsy, dare I say hipster vibey places? Lol. I’d trust anything u recommend 😂

Ahhh I'm so excited for you! I haven't been back in many years, and I think a lot of the places I liked closed down during the pandemic. Two cool bars in Palermo imo are Boticario and Rey de Copas. For food I always loved Fukuro Noodle Bar, but if you're looking for asado, La Carniceria on Thames has slightly new takes on traditional dishes -- the meat is fantastic. Also the cazuelas at Cumana are amazing. For a REALLY classic feel go to La Brigada in San Telmo -- also one of my favorites. You should try to go to a milonga over a tango show imo; Maldita Milonga is great if it's still running. Also if you can find a street art tour I highly recommend, it will invariably give you more insight into the 2001 crisis and politics more generally. Hope you have a great time!! 🌞🇦🇷

Not all of these things are hipster fwiw. Boticario, Rey de Copas, Fukuro, yes. Post Street Bar is also really chill and has been in the neighborhood for ages. If you're in San Telmo, Doppelganger is a nice cocktail bar, and Hierbabuena has fantastic brunch, lunch, and dinner. Hope that helps!

Great video as usual. I like your pragmatic wedding style. I’m damned when it comes to whether I’ll get married soon or not haha. My gf, who’s an amazing 10/10, needs me to marry her. Because her Indian family is mentally abusive, and even though she could live with me. She’d be excommunicated if she did it out of wedlock. But, on the other hand my brain injury that I got nearly four years ago now-still has me completely numb. So I can’t feel anything still. No pleasure/emotions. Even after trying all different meds, and other methods of healing nothing works. I lift weights and do cardio everyday too, so even exercise doesn’t fix me. Thankfully, I still care a lot about people. So I’m not a monster. Anyway, I may never feel anything for the rest of my life at this rate. So I’d rather be alone if I’m going to be like this. Because not being able to feel anything for the person you love is a cruel fate. Even if you care deeply about them. That’s the abbreviated version anyway. I’ll figure something out I’m sure. Wish I could take shrooms with the current meds I’m on though. Then I could ask the cosmic owl for advice haha. Anyway, this comment isn’t a woe is me situation. I’ll be ok, I’ve made it this far. And I don’t expect any answer, it’s a complicated situation that even my therapist doesn’t know how to handle. I’m just wired on my brain meds, and can’t sleep so I figured I’d respond to kill some time before the gym opens at 5am haha. Wishing everyone the best here. That sounds difficult! I'm not sure how to help but I wanted you to know that I read what you wrote. Is it possible that a relationship full of care could be enough for you and your partner? Maybe not -- maybe one party requires "felt" love -- but it might be a question worth asking. I often feel real love comes out of a practice of care, and that a practice of care, no matter where it leads, can be a really beautiful and sustaining gift. Wishing you lots of luck in your situation. I hope you can go slowly and be kind to yourself 💜💜💜
