Yeah, they're sometimes kinda rude too...when I was at the airport coming back from Mexico a few months ago, after I got done at customs, I tried to open the door to go out what I thought was the exit, and it was locked. And the customs agent said in the most condescending tone "Umm, sir, that door won't open because it isn't an exit..." and he gave me this "pshh" sound like I was some moron, even though the actual exit door was right next to it, and there was no exit sign. It was just a door with no window or anything, how was I supposed to know where it led? I'd also never been to that airport before. He was a real jerk.
