The wall of ice that is Karpov gets hit by the flaming ball of fire that is Kasparov, as the young pretender to the throne unleashes an impossible move against the champion. The year is 1985, the stage is the world chess championship.

What a riveting match. I can really see Kasparov's creativity shine here, especially through the narration. I never thought I'd see Karpov's positional approach turned against him so soundly. Also, don't heed the detractors too much, I quite liked the voice style on this one. Comfortably dramatic and fitting for such a match. Keep it up!

The KZbin preview for this video started to play in my search for finding an ASMR video before bed. Immediately got roped in. I’m almost done the video. I haven’t played chess in a long time and I’ve only played a couple of times. I had to Google some of the words to understand the deeper meaning (such as castling), but good grief this is riveting. This has got to be one of the greatest positional chess games I have ever seen, not because there were any awesome sacrifices or tactical patterns, but because Kasparov literally squeezed Karpov to death on the battlefield with his pieces and the legendary octopus knight. And of course, what an amazing story you told that captivated me for over 45 minutes; not an easy thing to do when it comes to YT vids! It would be epic if you made more historical chess game videos. btw, the correct plural of "octopus" is "octopuses." Octopi is actually a misspelled form of the plural word stemming from the Latin ending, however "octopodes" is also correct, just lest commonly used. But all three are acceptable to use in American English. :)

I got interested in playing chess because I saw my classmates play. But you're the channel I watched when getting to know chess (mainly because watching Levy was overwhelming) and it made me enjoy the game even more because of your analogies and relaxing nature. I discovered your channel because of your Shorts. I first watched your Sicilian Defense Dragon Variation and really loved how you described the roles of the pieces, like how the rook is a cannon and the monster bishop. It really activated my imagination and got me into chess a lot more! I hope you make videos just like these along with teaching opening videos. You're the one that truly got me a headstart and I really appreciate that!

Why does he move the bishop back at 31:22 when it's not under threat yet when he can use that move to get the knight out via b2? I get that that threat is coming from the knight but surely that tempi is best used getting the knight back in the game?
@ASMRChess

It doesn't work. 24. Nb2 Qf6 25. Nxd3 Bxd3 26. Qxd3 Ne5 and white can't protect the bishop and the queen at the same time. Interestingly Stockfish prefers 24. Nb2 on low depth but changes its mind when it goes deeper.
