The "Somewhere" ballet usually gets omitted because it's (the music) too deep for the movie people. Heck why do you think they changed the song order and meaning for the movie? For the same reason there is no "Somewhere" ballet. Add to that this ballet happens after a major tragedy in the story and contains everything from the most beautiful to the most ominous music Bernstein wrote for West Side Story. It's disturbingly poignant for that reason, and that's why I love it. I've know this music for over 40 years, but only now I discovered that Tony and Maria actually had one fully intimate moment together, which wasn't interrupted like Tristan und Isolde. But that's another version of the same story for another day. Great job, thanks for posting!

I can only hope they got a recording of this ballet from Guthrie’s production a few years ago. I found it even more idealistic and beautiful than the recent film version with Rita.
