Aspen Departure Extended Version 10/2/24

Based on viewer's comments I created this extended version of this steep and quick departure out of Aspen up over Independence Pass showing continuous footage of the route from takeoff to sign off.

Thanks Frank, I have fun making these videos. I just got my Instrument Rating a few years ago and it seems like a long slog through the commercial to CFI. I can recommend someone at KAPA if that would be helpful?

Nice video. Do you fly that route frequently? Did you experience any turbulence on the pass?

Not often, just for fun! There are a number of peaks in that area so it can be very turbulent in certain wind conditions. Luckily it was pretty smooth during this flight. I always look at the winds aloft for DEN at 12,000 ft and if they are greater than 30 knots I stay out of the mountains.
