Grand Rounds- Puberty

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology has developed guidelines for learning for the subspecialty of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI). These guidelines specify that training in this subspecialty should include training concerning puberty. This live internet activity is designed to provide such training to reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellows as well as other practitioners of reproductive medicine. The activity will consist of a didactic presentation followed by a question and answer session.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
1. Commit to a written answer for each question posed during this presentation.
2. Apply knowledge of normal pubertal landmarks to recognize abnormal puberty in females.
3. List the differential diagnosis of common etiologies central and noncentral precocious puberty, delayed puberty, and delayed menarche.
4. Compare and contrast the differential diagnosis of genital bleeding with Tanner 1 and 2 breast development.
5. Cite resources that you could utilize to develop a self-directed learning plan on the scientific/genetic foundations of puberty with special attention to normosmic idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (nIHH), Kallmann syndrome, constitutional delay, McCune-Albright syndrome , and Kisspeptin.
