Lukashenko is a little different case. There is no armed internal force that could overrun Lukashenko and Russians share a long common border with Belarus and have the military in Kaliningrad near to Belarus. As soon as there WOULD be a danger that Lukashenko could fall the Kremlin would have to overtake Belarus at once and has the possibilities to do so. IF in such moment the Belarusian population would fight same way as Ukrainians against being overtaken by Russia THEN Putin`s regime would be at the end. But I do not see who would seriously overthrow Lukashenko at the moment. Theoretically only one "subject": the Ukrainian secret service (as in Syria??? nobody can tell for sure at the moment).

Actually, Putin pulled a lot of troops out of Kaliningrad to try and retake Kursk and now it is possible that Kaliningrad could break away as well There is a resistance in Belarus, but it is small and weak because Lukashenko relies on the Russian military to keep him in power The military in Belarus is one step up from riding on horseback If Putin is forced to pull to many of his troops out of Belarus I could see Lukashenko falling Assuming that Russia had enough forces to protect him is what brought down Assad

And even then it wasn’t much of anything,no real flare ups that could’ve led to escalation of an uprising,plus the people understand if they stand up to him again,Russia will intervene to keep him in power. They really just gave Assad lip service,Putin would REALLY do everything in his power to keep Lukashenko in charge. The people of Belarus hate Luka, but they’re more afraid of being treated to what Ukraines currently getting.

I like Sviatlana, but Belarus is very different than Syria. Russia shares a border with Belarus; so Putler could inject ground troops in there very easily. The problem he had in Syria is that air power alone is not enough to defeat the enemy. The Syrian army were the ground troops, and he had no way to reinforce them from Russia.
@danielstapler431519 сағат бұрын
I agree Belarus is not Syria. It is not a divided state with Kurds fighting for freedom supported by USA forces. Turkey is looking to get millions of refugees back to their homes (for domestic Turkish political reasons) and looking to increase their influence in what was a part of the Ottoman empire. Syria has several other large well armed groups. Russia was looking to increase their influence on the world stage by supporting Assad and until a week or so ago this worked. Plus Syria was being run by an Alawite government and Alawites represent 10% of the population ruling over a Sunni majority and Christians and Druze.
