In themodern portion colonial period is included ,there is nothing like Colonial and post colonial period separately in Assam History as far as we know. In addition to this,This is just to remember the timeline and its development. In precise We can divide assam history into 4 Parts - Mythological Period Ancient Assam History Medieval (Ahom rule) Modern(British rule)

Both are correct. But i verified this everywhere they have included mytho as well. Go for 4.But if you see in case of indian history pre historic period is included in Ancient history itself. From that point of view 3 also correct.
