This game could have been more dynamic and better if they made the enemy NPCs able of taking the opportunities to attack/stab him while unguarded and preoccupied. They should've add squad formations, ganging up and simultaneous attack. Regardless that would not make the game unplayable but would require more skills and strategy. *Sigh* so frustating to just imagine such game would exist someday. Games developed by people who are familiar with real combat mechanics. I wouldn't mind the flashy moves, you can make video game characters with unlimited physical attributions like stamina, cardio etc. Things that limit us to do incridible stuff in real life.

The combat in AC3-AC4 was a tricky thing to change because there were a lot of flashy things in it that sacrificed the difficulty with more fancy finishers or slow attack animations. Guess Ubisoft didn't want to temper with that piece by piece and decided to scrap it all together and redesign it entirely again for Unity .. which also get scrapped and redesigned in Syndicate for a more faster system with combo score and such. If anything, I'd say that the problem was in the whole chain-kill feature that was introduced in Brotherhood. It was tweaked by each new AC up to the point where in AC3 it became pretty much a gimmick. Majority of your fights became a chore with *wait for attack* --> *press counter button* --> *press attack button to perform an execution* --> *spam attack to chain-kill everyone around you* and if an enemy was about to interrupt you, you just repeated the whole process. It certainly looked cool and was kinda fun with making you feel like a slaughter machine, but it felt kinda useless to use other weapons if with most of them, you could do the same thing. Hidden blades were quite a disappointment for me. If you remember, in AC1.. Hidden blade was not suitable for combat at all. But you could still use it. It had the lowest requirement time for counter so it was pretty risky to use, you couldn't block attacks with it, nor attack. Just used for quick and efficient counters. In AC2, the blades were on the side with the more faster attack (stats) weapons. In AC3-AC4 (Rogue if you want co count it in) made Hidden blades look like some typical dual daggers with slow attack animations which retained the easy use of counter & executions with chain kills. In short... AC4's combat was simplified, filled with a lot of flashy but long finishing animations and was quite boring. But it still looked cool, no doubt about that.

Here's an opinion of mine: fighting enemies in AC3 and AC4 is too easy. All you gotta do is wait for an enemy (or two enemies) to attack, and then just do a counter kill (counter button, then attack button). And with enemies who have a defensive weapon, you could just break their defense and then repeatedly tap the attack button. It isn't any different in AC3, however a few type of resilient enemies require different methods. At least AC1 and AC2 are actually a bit challenging at times..

Sorry for 2 years man,okay I'll explain,this skill is easy to perform on console but hard on PC I THINK,first you need to kill an enemy in conflict,either you spam attack button or counter kill them,after that,you will be in chain kill phase,press a movement key(PC) or joystick(console) along with quick tool button ,which you need to equip a pistol first,press these button at the same time,and that's it,you will get to enjoy a badass kill.hope this will help you😉

It's kinda up to the game when it decides that 2 soldiers attack you at the same time, when you see the counter prompt on 2 soldiers, just press the counter button and one of many execution animations plays out. You can perform various forms of these depending what kind of weapons you got equipped.

nah all you have to do to get an execution is just to keep hitting your enemies without getting intrerupted which leads to his death and then press the tool button for the tool counter and if you want double counters keep disarming your enemies they'll get pissed off and eventually attack also remember to get them to surround you

One time I let my younger brothers(aged 6 at the time) play this game, just climbing about and commanding the ship etc. but they wanted to fight. I had upgraded to the point of having as many guns as you could have (4 or 5?) and I told one of them to press X as fast as they could and the face he made as he shot down guard after guard was priceless. Actually we need to understand,ubisoft changes combat mechanic based on feedback from players,they say assasin creed 3 combat is easy,need to be difficult.So they decided to changes it in Unity,but combat in Unity is slow making a person becomes too lazy to engage enemy.So they copy the system from batman arkham series and put it into syndicate,but it looks ridiculous,so they make AC nowadays similar to The witcher 3 and dark soul

You probably know by now but if not, you must have already killed one guy in your encounter, then move towards another guy and click the tool button, if there’s enough space and there’s two guys or more, you will get the move, I suggest doing it with rope darts they don’t get consumed and look cooler.
