I don't know if it's nostalgia talking but AC1 had the most unique atmosphere in my opinion. The sheer brutality and historic feel of that time period, the uneasy edge of trying to remain hidden in plain sight after escaping the site of an assassination (not to mention the rush of the escape itself!), and the way the communities, surroundings and architecture feel really sum up the early medieval period in the holy land which hasn't been explored that much in games.
@Amikeur4 жыл бұрын
In AC1, the atmosphere was worked to make it coldly realistic. You really felt the tension of being a cold-blooded killer in the crowd, and that a little mistake could put you in danger.

Assassin's Creed 1 has that fine layer of grit that helped ground it like no other of the AC games did. Corrupt guards harassing the weak, babies crying, drunkards and the mentally retarded roaming the streets. All this compounded by that the game often times dared to let you traverse the cities without playing any music, really letting you breathe in the raw atmosphere. Hell it was the only game in the series where if you didn't finish an enemy off cleanly (triggering a finisher move) the enemy would lay on the floor twitching and screaming for mercy until they died.

Even though I still love AC 2 to AC Unity, still overall like AC Syndicate and loving Origins but disliking the most recent entries in the franchise (at the time of writing, 2023, 19th of july) Odyssey and Valhalla (although honestly, they're still good games, at least Odyssey, to me), no other game in the franchise has executed it's core fantasy better than AC 1, even today. The fantasy of not only being an assassin in the Crusades, but being inside of a machine capable of making you relive someone's memories that was as technologically incredible as unimaginably dangerous to be in. From small things like the computer and simple HUD, to integrating not only things as time skips but the actual control scheme into the actual Animus, it made you fully believe that you were in a machine at all times. A machine that wasn't fully refined, and that, if you spent a little too much time in, you would start to see the blood painted in your room. And I won't be mentioning what others have said about how mechanically well thought out this game can be, making you have to play repetitive missions since you were, for all intends and purposes, a novice learning your creed once again, and searching for your next target, since a lot of people have talked about the structure of the game much more extensively than I could. What I'm tryong to say is, Assassin's Creed 1 was, and is still to this date, the game that representes and understands the concept of what the franchise better than any other entry. Now that we're looking back on our trails and trying to gain more knowledge from them, then maybe, we can use that knowledge to not only apply it for now, but for what the foreseeable future may be. After all, and I'm sorry for getting corny here, isn't that what Assassin's Creed is about?

This game really needs a remake, the engine of AC2/BH/RVLTNS would be perfect The feel when you run to escape after kill your target is just delicious

No thanks. AC2 was dumbed down as fuck. No need to ruin AC1s magic with that.

Altair best assassin he was the the one who started it all and the greatest assassin shame.the developers didnt continue his arc like they did and sucked ezio's balls hell they even remastered all the other games and left this one aside i mean the hate Altair get is unreal.
@nicola473 жыл бұрын
i think ubisoft loves Altair characters.His disguise is on every game of the series but they don't want his return in other games because fans like more Ezio than Altair althought I think Altair represents the only real assassin of the series.(sorry for my English)

@@nicola47Altaïr is the OG. Still the best and most badass Assassin in the series. Ezio’s got nothing on Altaïr. Then after the Kenway’s story, the series took a nose-dive and tried to become The Witcher.. And look how that turned out. Was there problematic and/or under-developed, buggy, glitchy games in the series? Absolutely (I’m primarily looking at you AC: Unity), but they should’ve stuck with the original AC mechanics and what made it great, to begin with. As far as I’m concerned, Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are *NOT* Assassin’s Creed games.

6:40 How this never became the official boss fight/chase theme for the franchise bewilders me 14 years after Assassin's Creed 2 came out, I mean you could've remixed it from title to title so it matches the atmosphere of each game after the first but the core theme should've remained, SMH.
