@@50.CalFilms Before man. Edward has killed both templars and Assassins just for the sake of his selfish greed for coin. One noticeable thing is at the start when you're still disguised as Duncan walpole, you defend the templars from the assassins, other one is bringing one of the main templars to the assassin creed brotherhood base where loads of assassins got massacred. I'd say its just an ironic thing for edward. He wears the uniform of an assassin and has the skills as one but uses it for his own selfish reason at the start of the game whether it mean fighting for the assassins or for the templars. What is the symbolism I don't really understand
@hansonmaynard95583 жыл бұрын
@@daraghmolloy3638 If I may, I believe he's referring to the theme of Assassin's Creed, of using the Eagle as a sort of spirit animal for Assassins in earlier games. Altair meaning something along the lines of "Eagle" is one example. Another, being how the movements of the assassins are likened to that of the dive of predatory birds or raptors, think when diving into a hay-pile in-game. The assassination is an image of the predatory dive famous among birds of prey: swift, decisive, and typically surprising. ;) The Jackdaw is a different bird entirely and is a common theme with Edward in Black Flag. Edward named his ship The Jackdaw. Jackdaws are clever but lack the strength and speed of the eagle and therefore are typically scavengers. This likeness is referenced in the video 3:30 with one of Aesop's fables about the jackdaw. Roberts tells the story of the jackdaw, but he is talking about Edward. Roberts is telling Edward that he is not what he believes himself to be and chasing his fantasy will be his ruin. He will not reach greatness; he will not rise above his own nature.

Altair and Ezio mean or have something to do with eagles in their respective languages. Connor captained a ship called the Aquila, which if I remember correctly, is a constellation of an eagle, and in his vision he became an eagle and it's probably safe to assume that his birth name has something to do with an eagle. 3:00 Ya know, I never put too much thought into the hallucination until I saw this As Edward’s ship wages war atop the waters, Edward swims through an abyss, seeing the hundreds and hundreds of people that he’s killed for a life of “Villainy” (Water). Almost the complete inverse of Spec Ops: The Line (which conveniently came out the year before). Where Captain Walker walks through a burning hell from the destruction of the WP, seeing the hundreds of people he’s killed trying to be a “Hero” (Fire). They even got the sounds of a “Bomb” dropping, which could be a reference to the sounds of the White Phosphorus bombs Walker used, and the scene of his entire crew hanging. Meaning his actions got them killed……just like Walker and how he got his unit killed. The hallucination is a nod to Spec Ops, but flipped. THAT’S what made it work, and the sheer genius of Ubi’s writers combined with the performances of the VA’s made this scene absolutely legendary.

"Aesop once wrote of an eagle, soaring high above a shepherd's field, that swooped down on powerful wings to seize a grazing lamb and carry it off to her nest. Flying close by, a jackdaw saw the deed, and it filled his head with the idea that he too was just as strong and capable. So with a great flapping and rustling of feathers, the jackdaw came down swiftly and clutched at the coat of a large ram. But when he tried to fly away, he found he could not lift the animal, for his size and strength were not up to the task. And even as the jackdaw struggled, the ram hardly noticed he was there. Nearby, just across the field, the shepherd saw the fluttering bird and was quite amused. Running up, he captured the jackdaw and clipped its wings. That evening he gave the jackdaw to his children as a gift. "What an odd little bird this is, father!" they laughed and shouted. "What do you call him?" 'This is a jackdaw,' the father said. 'But if you should ask him, he would claim to be an eagle.'"
