I believe the key was Navigation. When you have a huge map like in Origins, camels are not fast enough to move; but ships through the seas? Yes, sir. Horses and camels were good in AC 1-3 At last, bigger =/= better. I'd rather have a dense map, than a big map.

Well, it's supposed to be a stealth game, not an open world/exploring game. Small maps with some special locations work the best. Like Assassin's creed brotherhood's Roma and the Colosseum

I think the more dense and contained maps (e.g: Unity, and Syndicate) were more enjoyable because they enhanced the parkour and stealth elements a lot better. I genuinely appreciate all of the work that goes into the larger maps in Odyssey and Valhalla, but, eventually, exploring felt tedious.

There is that one island beside Athens that says for historical info it took a days trip sailing to get there and then you do it in maybe 5 minutes instead of a day cycle. the map was just too weirdly scaled and I honestly would've preferred if the ship was just fast travel between islands but you could sail a bit into the sea. It just being so condensed made me despise the game

Syndicate's small, but it's so interesting with a lot of pretty cool stealth opportunities. It does get mildly confusing when you run from one side of the bridge to the other and suddenly you've run through three different boroughs, but I suppose that's part of the fun. ☺️

@@feefoo564 my friend, parkour and stealth are the two main cores of assassin's creed franchise, both of those are done horribly in odyssey, you can't one shot assassinate people and they spot you instantly without even looking at you. The game forces you to engage în combat all The Time, punishing you for trying to be stealthy. And the parkour is the worst in the franchise, where the mc is slow, can't even run straight while parkouring without stumbling, and there are no cities that influence the parkour, there are no good placements for parkour except a for a rope between some rooftops.

I love odyssey so far, I'm on level 27 and it just amazes me with the amount of details. And while I do have to take breaks due to it getting a little boring, I'm always excited to come back and play it. I can't wait to get assassin's creed Valhalla!

The way assassins creed works is that if you like the lore and time it was made. Besides that’s it’s a give and take with these games. Never finished revelations because it was a chore then finally hopped back on with Origins. Loved the scenery and lay out.

Some games I feel like having a huge map is too much but I personally really like having a big map in AC since most of the areas have been digital reconstructions of real life areas. I really enjoy being able to see interpretations of these areas from the past and some from myths to compliment what we already had.

Bro I’ve been putting that game off just blindly getting on the hate wagon saying it’s not assassins creed anymore. Then a few days back I bought the ultimate edition on fanatical for 28 CAD and HOLYSHIT I’m loving it. It’s such a beautiful game with so much to do and Kassandra is ana amazing protagnist. Just sunk in 12 hours and didn’t even realize. I’m having so much fun and didn’t realize how much I missed a good RPG

Though people still complains that odyssey is bad and has no link with ac itself. Honestly odyssey is my fav. They took the time to do it and it looked perfect. From maps, to gameplay, graphics, customization, weapons, exploration, battleship from ac4 but better. Even mythical creatures to find. Man it's good

Each had something to tell about the AC lore. Honestly all ac games were GOOD and had some story that added to the lore

When i first played Origins, Obv the map just showed Siwa at first and i thought the size looked decent, could have been bigger and than when i get to know we are going to Alexandria and check out the full map, my god whatan amazingly huge and interesting map, especially if you love Egypt's ancient civilization

What I liked about Black Flag was manning a gold ornamented (max upgraded ship) ship across the seas singing sailor shanties with the pirates... Rarely used the fast travel Best AC game to this day

@@juveintheusa6261 I hear you, but at least, at the time, there weren't 150 uninteresting fedex quests when you have to go through the entire map for hours. Rome, Venise, Florence were really immersive for their time, lots of coulours, lighting, people dancing, singing, richers areas, slums, etc... Back in 2009-2011, it was pretty solid. Even Paris with Unity was really organic with full of details I can be biased because i was young at that time, it was new. Today, i feel like every open world is too big without meanings, (except RDR 2 )

Valhalla has an incredible size if we take into account that it is the delivery with more different maps and places to visit. Without counting the future DLC of the Paris map and the others that are about to come out, only the base game already contains: Norway, England, North America, Jotumhaim.Asgard.

Considering most of black flag is large open masses of water that are a bit empty and the small amount of land your able to explore with a lot of the islands being somewhat narrow rather then open it should be much smaller

Yeah, I’m kinda disappointed that there’s not a variety of things to do in the open world. It gets repetitive as you do the same things over and over again, especially the land segments like looting treasure chests, chasing shanties, assassination contracts, and restricted areas. That’s it. Out at sea, the ship battles are fun but since it’s all just water, there’s not a lot to do. Even when you visit a little island, it’s the same stuff again like treasure chests and shanties or restricted areas.
