I played AC 1 &2 when I was a kid, stopped playing video games for over a decade until my wife got me a PS5 Christmas 2023 with AC Mirage. So yeah, I love this game! After finishing Mirage I’m going back to play Valhalla, odyssey, origins, and Unity for the first time. I’m playing them in reverse order 😂😭

I swear people are willing to forgive unity for anything but look at any other ac game with a fucking magnifying lense. People criticize connor for being boring when arno is the most soulless character i’ve seen. Parkour looks good in unity but it sometimes feels like he is flying between jumps and everything is unresponsive. But no its the “best” because the animations are so good. I remember a time when people cared more about the gameplay rather than graphics and style.

Every aç fan sayfası that but I find parkour slugish cause I don't use mods origins is faster but I still prefer the versatility of North America saga specially ac3. It had every parkour move except for the diving through carts of ac1 that none of the games have that.

AC Mirage is a ‘back to roots’ experience. But I think people have gotten so used to the rpg formula to the point where they forgot what made assassins creed. Assassins Creed, Mirage dosent prioritize combat. It never said that. Mirage returns with stealth (that works) and you are an assassin again (after 6 years). We’re back in a decently large city with MANY things to do. And the game doesn’t take 2-3 to give you its title card to remind you that you’re playing an assassins creed. Short 30 min intro introducing Basim and what he does for a living turning into a hidden one. The gameplay (while basic with what the devs have to work with) is miles impressive than what we got with Quebec. The map is made for parkour in mind, something ac Valhalla and odyssey don’t. And while it’s not exactly like unity or fast like the previous games. It’s still fast and flashy. Plus the notoriety system returns in prolly the best way possible. You have to be mindful on where you assassinate targets, if a civilian sees they will snitch on you for murder and increase the notoriety. It does increase slow, but it can escalate in level depending on the level. Without talking about the story. This game is an amazing ac game. It’s not unity levels and I argue that if mirage was exactly like unity, it wouldn’t be pleasant. Not every ac game needs to have unity’s parkour to make it good. The first 4 ac games showed that, ac3 was a bit buggy but still fun, and black flag and rouge improved off of 3 significantly. So if you disagree and think “All hail unity” please tell me why you think that. I’m very intrigued on what other AC fans think. Personally 7/10 👍

People forget that in the first AC was never about the gameplay but the feeling of become badass Assassins. AC Mirage while is not perfect it brings the feeling of Assassins again. Odyssey and Valhalla are more like monster slayer than an Assassins used to be

Gameplay mechanics etc. Thinking something isn't a AC game because it has grown and are financially able to make a game bigger and better for the masses isn't "moving away" from IP. We have sports games to be the same every year with new graphics. Any story mode game needs to grow and add to the original concept. Odyssey and Origins are AMAZING! The copies sold and profit margin Far exceed the "stick to the roots" "it's not an assassin's game" crowd.

Yea I think this game is alright I see exactly what you mean with the combat and assassinations you would think by now they would know how to make multiple of them and with what you say about black flag is 100% what they need to do just about everything about that game is still fluent and perfect to the looting combat everything really if they made a newer one like that itd be perfect

I think my ideal AC game would be, as you mentioned, a fantastic story similar to that of AC 2, but as for other aspects, I would LOVE the control we used to have over parkour in the earlier titles like that of the Ezio trilogy, I'd want the animations and fluid feeling we got from Unity, and while it might not be for everyone, a combat system like that of Sekiro could be amazing honestly. I can see how it wouldn't fit perfectly, but I think it would make fights a lot more interesting and engaging while also encouraging a far stealthier approach if you can manage it, especially if it was as difficult as that in Sekiro. If we have to go with just previous AC games, I definitely wouldn't mind a mix between 3 and Black Flag just for the brutality and efficiency of the combat, even though it would be a bit outdated compared to more modern systems.

Just got it. It's okay. There are a lot of things I like and then there are a lot of things that I think are done really poorly Glad I only paid 25 bucks for it. Baghdad is awesome And I like that it focuses more on stealth. But the parkour feels janky, the combat SUCKS, and the voice acting can be really bad. What's up with the stiff cringey awkwardness when talking to merchants??? But overall there's a vibe to this world that I still like just exploring and messing around in

I might be in the minority here, but AC Revelations was my favorite. The combat was awesome, story was great and I was even a big fan of the multiplayer aswell. Absolutely loved revelations

I just started playing it, and I do enjoy it for the most part, the game is extremely annoying because it's very wonky. For example, I did the informant side quest contract yesterday, I stashed the boy in the haystack for a minute, and when I tried to get him out with the y button when it prompts me to carry him, I was unable to pick him up, and the game was in a glitch where I couldn't finish the quest so I had to reload. The bird Ekidnu finding stuff absolutely sucks. When you get in tight spaces the camera zooms in the first person view and doesn't allow you to look down enough to collect loot many times. God forbid you try to put a marker on a side quest on the map, because it just opens up the investigations menu. I get that if you track a quest, you don't need to put a marker, but you do because the cog wheel icon when you're tracking quests disappears off my compass almost all the time. The game just needs a lot of work still. The graphics are amazing. I just hope to see some improvements.

Strongly disagree with the story part. Given that you are literally playing as a character from Valhalla, it makes total sense that the devs would reward players who have kept up with the story of at least the one game where the protagonist was featured. If it had completely dismissed Valhalla’s story, it would have come as a major disappointment for people who were already invested in Basim’s character in Valhalla. As someone who played Valhalla, I found the ending to be pretty straight forward and fairly satisfying. I agree that there are many issues with the game’s story, but the ending was actually one of its few redeeming qualities

I just finished my first playthrough today after not really playing any AC games in a while and its honestly in my top 3 ac games, maybe even #1, and this may be because i just played it but everything about it just fits together so well, the amazing uses of the tools, the fun puzzles that arent just finding an open window and jumping through it, the notoriety system, and the contracts are just a few that make it so nice. And the combat while it may not be polished with animations and stuff doesnt make it bad, its just really straight forward, and the older games combat was arguably worse, i think its peoples sense of nostalgia that makes them cling onto AC2 or brotherhood. In my opinion, its the best AC game yet, and i really hope they release some dlcs

I mean, in old ac games combat was relatively easy too, most of the times you would kill an enemy with a single button press and some of them you had to either use someaone as body shield to block a shot, dodge out of the way or knock them to land a hit, but the point stands that combat was never ac's strong fort. It was stylish though, but that was it, what it excel at was stealth and story progression, the two of which the recent ac games lack much.

I've played all AC games, excluding the ones like China. I've read the e-mails, i've followed the cinematics... It's been a while since I had any idea what was going on outside of the Animus. I've even watched videos about it, but still it does not make any sense. Altogether, I had no idea what Mirage was about, if it's even worth buying, but it feels like there's no substance behind it, just some badly put together elements...

I would say yes. There was an interview with one of the guys at ubi. He mentioned something about how each of the RPGs had embodied and delivered a certain "fantasy." Bayek was that ancient Egypt fantasy, Kassandra was the demigod ancient greece fantasy, Eivor was the viking fantasy... Basim and Mirage deliver the Altair, Assassins Creed fantasy. Fantasy yes. I think that's what we'll get now with these newer games. The franchise has evolved, as all things do. But boy does this one deliver the fantasy well. The game certainly feels like the newer ones, no walk by default, but even more grounded than the previous three. Some reversed similarity to how the parkour became faster and faster as the titles released, in this case, it became slower and slower to the point of Altair/Ezio's weight behind their moves. Simple climbs, back and side ejects. Admittedly, the freedom that was involved with how you moved in the original titles is not present in full here. However the environment is hugely catered to these simple movements. Its compressed, and thats a good thing if you had just come from Valhalla. The perks are fewer but meaningful, the world is small but that allows further attention and detail to individual locations. The combat is simple, but added moves and abilities make it flashy and satisfying in a realistic way. Its a nice combo of that "full-player-controlled RPG fighting" and the classic parry-kill as was in older titles. Not the wheel of "Abilities" from the previous games either, theres none of that here. Focus is fine for me, if used creatively, chain kills that dont only invlove the Focus chain are really satisfying as well. Overall enjoyed it. I think this next trilogy is going to be one that will infact bring AC back to its roots. Perhaps not to the very ends from which this tree had first sprouted. But I think it may begin to bloom yet.

I just replayed Ac Unity with max settings, damn. Game that old, but still better story, system mechanics, combat, everything than this and Valhalla/Origins/Oddysey/Mirage 4 games of same type combat everything, just patched new map and maybe minor graphics improvements but thats that. Nothing more. I will now replay ac 3 remastered. Wish me luck!

The problem about the modern ac games is that they released ac unity and have an incredible parkour and smooth animations and its successors doesn't have that kind of smoothness to it

I have around 10-15 hours in and it’s been a painful ride. I’ve played every major AC game since the first one. I liked Unity and hated Syndicate. Almost didn’t play origins but I ended up loving it. Then Odyssey was my absolute favorite. Then Valhalla ruined it all again and now mirage omg it’s so bad. Yeah graphics are ok but there’s really nothing interesting to do. Everything is confusing and convoluted. There’s no sense of meaning in the story. The missions are all the same thing over and over again. Cmon Ubisoft. That was SOOO BAD.

Like you I’m struggling with this one, fighting is awful, stand in a doorway and kill all one by one. They don’t care about the pile of bodies right in front of them. Hugely disappointing

You will be sailing the seas of Greece, fighting in wars, uncovering conspiracies, talking to famous Greek figures such as Socrates… not to mention the quests that lead up to the 4 keys to open Atlantis?? Did you miss the one? Each one of those 4 keys is obtained through a quest in all 4 corners of the map and at the end of each you will have to kill a boss from Greek mithogy… you’re definitely doing something wrong cause with all that content, you shouldn’t be carrying boxes around unless you wanted to. That makes no sense.

The pre-ending and the ending are separate for me. SPOILER ALERT: Pre-ending - Sacking of Alamut by the Temerids - and watching Nur sacrifice himself for you, and the music that plays, absolutely killed me. Brilliant! Ending - Basim going into the Vault, and having his Fight Club moment with Nehal, and I absolutely hated it. Only part I liked was the Enikedu scratch, really nice touch. Also, why was Roshan was so unreasonable was beyond me. Basim even points out that she was just trying to control him, like the Templars wish to control the world. I prefer endings that don't feel so contrived. Roshan's enmity with Basim felt artificial. Glad she resigned from the Brotherhood (albeit out of necessity). She failed in her leadership over it.

The combat of Odyssey (without the god abilities, like warping around), the graphics of Valhallah (but characters a bit updated), compact map and story of Origins. Plus some small puzzles and instances like closed big areas like linear dungeons or buildings, where you need to go thru like some dungeon in Elden RIng, with some mini bosses. 😸
