Heytham was idealist, money and power to him was means to an end. Its ok to liek Heytham even if he is a templar 100% because he is cool, he was made for that reason, for you to like him inspite of him being on antagonist side. Same goes for Shay. Dont try to justify it with "the creed betreyed him" or "he was just usiong templars to exact revenge". He was a oure blood templar too and thats ok. I must say, I prefer Rogue to Unity by a landslide. The story interested me more, Shay was a more interesting protagonist to me, and I love the idea of finally having an Assassin realize that the Brotherhood isnt all righteous in their creed. While my favorite will forever be Black Flag and Edward, Rogue and Shay are a good second place.
@JackWilliams-eg6pr10 жыл бұрын
I agree, AC Black Flag has been the best one of them all (so far). Still, Shay left the Assassins because he was too ignorant and narrow minded. Obviously Achilles didn't intend for innocents to die, it's in the creed and Shay was just blinded by his anger to listen. Wasn't really a good reason to change and kill all his friends. Most templars have shown that their cause is definitely not better than the assassins'. The only templar I listened to and may have been convinced by was Haytham.
@DesperadoCrusader15410 жыл бұрын
Jack Williams The thing with me is, I wouldnt join either side. I'd do my own thing with my own side, but that's besides the point. In terms of just Assassins and just Templars, I agree with the Templars much more. The Assassins seem to be more ignorant to me. The world doesnt revolve around freedom and equality; man is not so kind. Order must be kept, and if it is through chaos, then so be it. The populace must be controlled in order to lead them to the correct outcome. The Assassins want to free the world, but that would only leave it in disarray and out of control. Personally, i'd be a Pirate like Edward, but if I had to choose, i'd be a Templar over an Assassin. Besides, my ancestors were actual Templars who fought in the Crusades so that's a big plus for me.
@DesperadoCrusader15410 жыл бұрын
Jack Williams Dictatorships are effective. They stop uprisings with fear and control through power and might. That's how i'd rule, and that's how i'd want my country/state/whatever ruled. Its effective and breeds results.
@DesperadoCrusader15410 жыл бұрын
Jack Williams Who cares if you're liked? Peace will be kept even if you must slaughter a thousand to send a message to the millions. Freedom sounds all fine and dandy on paper, but without control, freedom can easily turn into chaos. The Assassins fight for chaos in my book, and as such, I will always side with the Templars. They understand that just because you are hated or the 'villain' doesnt make you wrong. People can hate you all they want; You control them and they cannot oppose you. That level of power is what is needed to keep order. If only the Brotherhood of Assassins could see that, they wouldnt be throwing their lives away for their so called 'peace' and 'freedom'.
@DesperadoCrusader15410 жыл бұрын
Jack Williams Who gives a shit about other people? I'll steal and kill to profit myself all day long if I had that kind of power. Fuck the populace as far as im concerned. Like I said, I wouldnt honestly join either Assassin or Templar, but i'd join Templar long before Assassin.

1:36:09 I like how when Haytham does this when he's with Connor, Connor has a HUGE problem with it. When he does this with Shay, Shay has absolutely no problem with it like it's just another thing to him. This distinction is what I loved about this game. Seeing things from the other side, the opposite perspective, was just amazing. I've always likened Shay's fall from the Assassins to the Templars to be very reminiscent of Anakin Skywalkers change of heart, AND they're both prequels essentially (and I'm a HUGE sucker for prequels!)
@pedrobatista25292 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Shay didn't turn into a bad guy because he became a Templar. His turn to the Templars wasn't "fall" either. The Assassins had become corrupted and at that point, the Templars were genuinely better.
@AwesomeDude7992 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Haytham always kills people when he's done with them. One less loose end I suppose, but like Connor, I disagree with it. It just shows the different way of thinking. Templars use force and intimidation on anyone to get what they want. Assassins don't kill unless they deserve it. It's literally one of the tenants. "Stay my blade from the flesh of the innocent." You could make the point he wasn't innocent because he was working with them, but he's still just a low level grunt who doesn't call the shots.
@chaoticstarfish34012 жыл бұрын
@@pedrobatista2529 The Assassins at this point were either corrupt or naive, but Shay is definitely not a good guy. He says he'll kill everyone who defends Achilles and admits to becoming a monster right before he kills Adewalé. Also he's the only AC protagonist who can kill civilians without causing desynchronization, meaning he did actually do that at some point.
@pedrobatista25292 жыл бұрын
@@chaoticstarfish3401 Of course he would kill anyone who sided with Achilles. The guy was a genocidal madman that needed to be stopped as far as he was concerned. Even still, he felt sorry for having to kill Adéwale, Liam and even Hope. I don't like that he can kill civillians. That was a mistake on the dev's part IMO. But I can understand that he has to be able to kill British soldiers even though they're supposed to be allies. Maybe that's why killing civillians doesn't cause desynchronization. It doesn't have anything to do with the lore. The character's whole storyline is based around him being concerned with the common people.
@Emma-Queenofhell2 жыл бұрын
@@chaoticstarfish3401 I do have a theory on that but it's my own little theory shay once killed a few civilians he thought were assassin plants caseing the bounty hunters to come after him. His whole thing is he defects because he believes "innocents" where lost. Note he doesn't say "civilians" and as we know assassin's are masters of deception. So maybe after a few years in the Templar order he becomes very Paranoid over the idea of assassin's hunting him down. Thus Shay thinks that the civilians he killed are assassin's. Or more likely I'm just inhaling a bunch of cope gas.

Just finished playing this game for the 4th time and I really do have to say that they did a great job with it. It keeps a lot of elements from Black Flag, but that's to be expected when they were working on two games at once. Had they scrapped Unity however and just focused on this it honestly could've been the best game in the franchise. What impresses me most is the overall storyline, which is just as good as any of the earlier entires, and even better in some cases. What I enjoy about it all most isn't even Shay and his character arc (Though he was definitely fun to play as), but the character of Achilles. Since AC3 we were all wondering just what he did that lead to the destruction of his Brotherhood, and here we get to see that it really is all his fault. (Which he did admit in AC3). However, similar to earlier characters in the franchise, when you consider his history the mistakes he made, and they were mistakes, make perfect sense. Consider, Ah Tabai was his Mentor, and therefore his own teachings and ideology reflect those of said Mentor. He creates and runs the Colonial Brotherhood in a similar way that Ah Tabai ran the Carribeans. Each of the core members of the group is spread throughout the region, instead of solely being collected in just one city, and is then working on his or her own tasks, to contribute to the larger group as a whole. Achilles and Ah Tabai are both careful to keep in contact with various other Branches of Assassins around the world. At the same time, Achilles makes hunting down Precursor knowledge and Artifacts a central goal of his Brotherhood. Why would he not do that, when Ah Tabai made protecting one such Precursor site (The Observatory) and tracking any possible Sages a central goal of his own Brotherhood? He most certainly would've informed Achilles about the Observatory and explained to him that guarding it was his (Ah Tabai's) responsibility, which then of course leads to the claim Achilles makes to Shay in Rogue; that hunting down the Artifacts isn't a right, but the responsibility of the Assassins.

Honestly looking back at this game, it was probably one of the best games in the AC universe the plan behind this game of being able to play as a Templar and an assassin hunter was amazing! The only problem was that this game came out when EVERYONE was getting a PS4 and the ps3 era was coming to an end and it didn’t help that it came out the same time as Unity which you should know what happened. If Ubisoft waited to release this game at least a year or two after Unity and worked on making the story longer and adding different elements to the game, then I believe it could’ve been a lot better to most AC fans eyes! If Ubisoft makes a sequel to this I’ll definitely buy it because Shay’s story isn’t done yet

one of my favorite assassin's Creed games out there. I don't know why. it's just amazing
@FireBallZ24Gaming6 жыл бұрын
Ok I haven’t played this game but I love how it directly finishes where Unity started. Wow, this is why I play these games, the storyline is pretty damn good. More tie ins for future creed games I hope. As if typing this I still need to play Origins and Rogue but I will eventually.

I wish they would make a assassin's creed where Connor is coming to Paris and fights with Arno against the Templars and in the end take revenge on Shay.
@mysteriouspathfinder8 жыл бұрын
Donkey Chainsaw Read the fan made story Assassin's Creed Legacies. The three (Shay, Connor and Arno) met there. Face to face. It was just short though. Just search it. I hope Ubisoft acknowledge it amd make it a dlc. :D

GOD, YES. I'm copying-paste what I have just said above: 'My princess' dream is to have a new game where Connor and Arno join forces to take Shay down and while they actually do it, they are faced with his son/daughter that might or might not turn back to the Creed. I would be such a happy person. ;;'
@sniperassassinac84926 жыл бұрын
Im agree
@alexanderchristopher62375 жыл бұрын
@@nanythelittlestar I don't think a fight should be necessary. I think just have Connor and Arno confront Shay, who must have been pretty old by the time of the French Revolution. Shay will tell them why he did it. And, it could be in London. Think about it, with Connor hunting Templars all over the American republic and Arno in Paris, where would Shay hide other than England? Or perhaps in Lisbon, where Shay will tell them the story of the Lisbon earthquake and Assasin's meddling in it.

@Red -crunch bruh shay can take down both Connor and Arno together he's an assassin killer not just a normal Templar
@Killzoneguy1179 жыл бұрын
Okay, how was anyone surprised that Shay survived the fall? The mere fact that his genetic memories are available are indication that he very clearly did survive and lived long enough to pass on his genes. Even Ubisoft can't keep up with their own lore.

this game made me think. could the Assassins have been the real villains in this franchise the whole time? Haythem said that freedom would be an invitation to chaos. then again, both organizations could just be neccessary evil fighting an endless war, seeking the pieces of Eden to give themselves an edge. which do you think is better? freedom with chaos or order with control?
@pedrobrogueiracg8 жыл бұрын
The assassins in this age are indeed villains but for different reasons... they inspire complete devotion to Il Mentore and that's exactly what Altaïr and Ezio fought against... they wanted mankind to follow their own path as he said in a speech after killing Savonarola: "Do not follow me, or anyone else!"

The war between the Assassin's and the Templars is just a missunderstanding sometimes
@samanthagolding38767 жыл бұрын
I actually think that both Assassins and Templars bring balance thus they must stay at war (or work together, but I highly doubt that) in order for the world to stay in balance. The world should have freedom, but order as well. You cannot eat freedom. For example prison. In prison you aren't free, constantly receive orders and commands and must obey them or face consequences, but you get fed every night and have shelter from the cold, where a homeless man lives freely without anybody controlling his life, but starves and sleeps in the cold. So I'm in between, even though I think most Templars are dogs, they're still important. I was totally against the Templars in syndicate as it left people starving under control, where like with Unity I was much more laid back with them

Sparda Kurkov the Templars are just stupid the Assasins are the true and GOOD ones
@Alphaplayer-ft3fd6 жыл бұрын
Sparda Kurkov templars want a dictatorship, assassin wants freedom with no government. Basicly tyranny vs anarchy. Both are wrong. But atleast the assassins are openminded enough to let you choose what you want. So the assassins have an edge.

@masonjelvin60014 жыл бұрын
Altiar: “have their blades touched the innocent?.. then they must be killed” Shay did save the creed from being compromised. After this the assassins just did what they did after the fall of Masyaf, go into hiding and scatter. After some time Ezio rebuilt the order from the ground up and that’s what’s imminent after this as well.

I like how it Connected all the recent Assassin’s Creed games. AC3, AC4, And Unity. They mentioned Connor, Ade and Achilles are in the game fleshing out Achilles’ backstory, Ade’s time as an Assassin and the beginning of Unity and we even see more of Haytham when he was younger in the colonies . All in all, fuck Shay😂😂

Really hoping the next game involves Connor and Shay. Now that will be a great. But what I would really want to see is a Templar turning into an assassin now. That would make things even more interesting I think.

Bloody Ninja No they didn't,both groups want the same thing,but their methods are different in this universe created for this game,but because we always play as an Assassin we believe they are the good guys.We actually saw in AC3 that the Templars wanted to save the natives to be colonized,but because the natives saw every foreigner as an enemy they didn't understood,so the Templars used force to do that.In the end when Connor killed them,the natives lost,he didn't do anything to improve the situation.he actually made it worse

I mean, I had endgame equipment within a couple of hours. Mainly for Shay, but I have to say if I ever joined a brotherhood and they treated me like they did to him? I’d have left, and the rest would have been up to chance. This game’s economy is pretty easy to exploit, get your first upgradable building and wait around a few hours for it to drop coin and upgrade the city to full capacity. Then upgrade shay and gather every single treasure in the first city and take time to go out to a few islands. (This is only available once you turn Templar, and the upgrade cites tend to be city buildings and churches. Churches pay out extremely well.) Then, begin upgrading the ship until you reach something overlevel and competent. Proceed to pillage and sack the French into oblivion. Boom, you’re well on your way!
