It's been 8 years. I have a RTX3050 4GB and I can't play it on my laptop at ultra settings. Weirdly enough, the new Assassin's creed games look much better at lower settings and give me higher fps at the same time.

PCSS give you a shadow that is sharper close to the casting object and progressively softer further away. PCSS is better

The differences are pretty tiny for the most part. The biggest difference you can make to the visuals is forcing anisotropic filtering via your GPU control panel, since the game doesn't have it.

I'm surprised by how good AC Syndicate actually is. And the PC port is half decent too! It feels like Unity, but not a broken, unfinished pile of shit. Runs pretty well on ultra with a 970.

+TylersInsanity Funny. I can run Unity on med/high with a 770 without any problems, it even runs smooth with a nice FPS above 40 and 1080p. This game runs with 5 fps ( every 10 secs the fps drops to 5) to 32 fps at most. All gfx on low and resolution set to 900p, because 1080p is too much lol. No other game currently forces me to play games on low. What a crappy port, at least i'm happy it runs good for you. I really can't say the same thing, and i want my money back lol. I thought this will look like Unity, run like patched up Unity and play even better. Oh boy was i wrong about everything. Looks worse, runs worse and it doesnt really do anything new either.

+Starfals uhm strange...i think you must be doing something wrong, I have a gtx 950 and it runs syndicate fine (mostly 35-40 fps with very minor drops to 29-31 fps in demanding scenes) at 1080p, as for settings im using a mixture of high and very high settings with fxaa and hsbo+. personally I found the overall performance is somewhat similar to unity at similar settings but with more stable fps and less vram hungry, in fact I can't even run hsbo+ in unity without having vram issues.

michael angel It cant be a driver problem because i already got the latest ones. My PC runs every other game perfectly fine too. Thats why i think its the game. How well do you run Unity?

+Starfals are you using the latest driver? have you tried reinstall the game? Unity runs pretty much the same as Syndicate on my PC for the most part, but there's more dips in Unity especially if I'm running through large number of npcs, but in general fps in Unity is slightly higher when walking around on top of buildings.

I get those Dips in Syndicate. The fps goes from 30-35 down to 1-5 every 5-15 secs. Its pretty much impossible to play like this. Yes, i got the drivrs and everything. I really dont get it. It is the only game doing that. Even the new Batman game that was soo horrible ran fine on my computer.

On low it gives you a more cartoon- ish look. Ultra is more realistic. Just a personal preference, i personally like the ultra but it's not worth for the large performance cost imo lol

No shit you can tell the difference in a side-by-side comparision. Anybody can. Here's the thing: It won't affect the experience at all. There's nothing in there that, if you played now on max, stopped, then played it 2 years later on low, the game would be just as good. They need more "real" graphical settings that actually do something.

Das Spiel sieht auch auf niedrigen Einstellungen sehr gut aus, aber die Texturen und Schatten müssen eigentlich auf Mittel gestellt werden. Mit meiner GTX 660oc kann ich leider die Texturen nur auf Niedrig stellen, da diese noch viel zu viel fressen. Da muss Ubisoft noch unbedingt etwas machen.

5 years later and modern hardware still cant max the game lmao, EVEN ODYSSEY RUNS ALMOST TWICE THAT FAST. Got 40FPS with all settings on max and I only play at 1080p. i7 9700K, RTX 2070 Super. Those PCSS shadows are the biggest FPS killer and not worth it. Disabling it and using high instantly gives me 25FPS+. I actually changed to Medium now because then I get 28FPS more and I see no difference between high and medium. On top of that I lowered HBAO+ Ultra to HBAO+ only and changed Environment quality to Very High instead of Ultra High. In both cases I did so because I cant see a difference and both together almost give me 10FPS more. So with all this I usually hower around 80FPS now. Anti Aliasing and Textures are maxed of course.

The difference between HBAO+ and HBAO+ Ultra is like 10 fps, yet i can't see any difference at all, same goes with the shadows, in unity they looked WORSE with nvidia technologies enabled... GTX 1070 can handle this game on ultra 1080p 4x msaa without fps drops below 60... gtx 780 oc'd to the max couldn't handle such graphics

with my y70 laptop, 860M 4gb...I get stable 30+ fps on high settings, SSAO and FXAA...but with everything low I get around 8-10 fps more lol, not complaining tho 30fps is good for high settings except the anti alisign ...

Lukaz LPI High at 1080p 30fps, as long as the frame rate is stable. It's worth the 30fps if the game runs at 1080p and looks great.

PCSS ultra is a joke, there is nearly no difference between ultra and PCSS, but PCSS ultra just kills the FPS and performance; Nvidia is just trying to get more people to buy their new cards. I think this game has better optimization than ACU indeed, but still pretty shitty.

Fuck Nvidia and their PCSS ultra and HBAO+ Ultra. PCSS is pretty much, lower your FPS for blurry shadows. I know it's how far it is from the sun but it's the most stupid settings ever.

Can somebody help me? I ran Unity with every setting on high, HBAO+, 60 fps no problem. With the same resolution, I got very stuttery gameplay on Syndicate *but only at day* , the game runs smoothly on night setting. I figured it was the shadow so i set it to low, it got a bit better but the stutters are still there especially on rooftops. Turning off postfx manually on AC.ini didn't cause any difference but rather crashed my game. Any insight is welcome. Extra info: Yes i have fixed the 30 fps cap on cape animation. Yes i have set the fullscreen setting to exclusive instead of borderless. Graphics driver was updated relatively recently too.

+Sean Kirrane No. You'll need a card with more than 2GB of available VRAM for this to work nicely! If you look at the options menu at the end of the video, it says at the top right how much VRAM is required, and even "Low" needs the full 2GB, sorry! If you are thinking of upgrading though, NVIDIA are doing the 'Blades and Bullets' promo at the moment, you can chose AC: Syndicate or the new Tom Clancy game if you buy a GTX 970 or better, just and idea (that's what I've done)!

DEASSASINBLOOD C: Not at 1080p. You can actually get 15-30 FPS if you change the resolution to 800x600. You can find videos on how to do that on KZbin.

If you do not want a stylised game, PCSS ist the only right approach, because overal faded isn't realistic, too. Its a shame that no comparison shows the transition between sharp and faded of PCSS...

+Riverwood Guard Okay, there are several reasons why that might be: - You're blind, there are huge differences to the level of detail - More seriously though, either your RAM or GPU's available VRAM is being cut short, based on the bar in the options menu, you'll need more than 2GB of VRAM, even the "Low" preset requires the whole 2GB, and don't forget some of that will be used for Windows visuals etc.! - Less likely, your processor is bottlenecking and capping your performance Either way, if there is little to no FPS change between the presets, it's an issue on your end.

Riverwood Guard Your CPU is bottlenecking then. If you meet the recommended hardware and your drivers are up to date, you shouldn't be having stutters. Also, I don't know what you're referring to with "ugly textures", the texture quality is fantastic, are you sure you've restarted the game after changing texture quality?? If it's "just the game", then why don't I have your issues?

Erm, you can most likely play it on low settings. It's recommended to have 6GB Ram and 3.6Ghz. You may crash though a few times due to RAM issues.

Game looks good, but on ps4.....ugh. I actually felt motion sick after playing on ps4 for the low res.

Settings in this game is funny, i mean, back in the day the blurry shadows are the lower ones but in this game the sharper shadows are the lower one and the blurred one is the ultra. New Gen is awesome for low-end players. :D
