Nagisa's trick is kinda like an "mental flashbang" !! When your opponent are so scare, they get startled with any sounds, that's why he have to make the clap as loud as possible, so it will completely break their mental, and just like a flashbang, it will blow away the opponent's focus, leave them totally unguarded !

funny thing is when i was teenager i figured out that the easiest way to startle people isn't by sneak-boo-ing them when they're tense (and anticipating a scare) but by suddenly fast clap right at their face when they're talking in relaxed state 😂😂 so when i find this anime i was so happy to find out about the use of fast clap thing

It's triggering a panic attack. the dude was focusing on the knife and getting ready for a knife slash so when nagisa dropped the knife it confused him and massively increased is stress level since he couldn't predict nagisa's next move, the clap is surprised him and added even more stress overwhelming what is body can take when that happens the brain has a tendency to shut down in order to protect itself from the massive stress and shock.

for anyone wondering how it works. clap stunner is basically getting the enemy on the highest alert and then giving out a sudden loud sensation. this will cause the brain in panic and will cease all sensory actions to focus. same feeling when a horror movie was about to surprise you.

This is a great series, but one thing that bother me the most is this episode where the 3 assassin tell us that all of that serious illness is just a mere common cold. Cmon dude all that tense moment just for a mundane truth? I mean like why not saying that the poison is indeed lethal but they simply hide some of the medicine and can't bring it to the student unless the boss is knocked unconscious

If they did something like that, then it would be like the assassins didn't had any standard for themselves and are just like Takaoka. This is to show even when they are assasins, they have their standards in terms of who they want to kill. That's why they told that if they want to assasinate them, they had to meet their standards. They are not some bullies who want to show off their power by crushing weaklings like Takaoka. They are pros who crave for challenge and satisfaction in assassination.
