This game is so sad when you think about it... Edward went through so much during his years of piracy. In the end, he found himself through his adventures, but with a high cost: the loss of all his friends and his wife.....just for his son to end up being a Templar years later after Edward was killed in his own estate.

I feel this track alone sets the tone and main conflict for the game. It’s slow at the start to represent calm parts in the game when you could be exploring towns and islands and then it gradually rises to an upbeat and stronger tone, which can represent that even if you are peacefully roaming the world, chaos can happen like ship battles or animal attacks or guards attacking you. Not to mention it’s emotional to the point you can have this song playing and think about all the character deaths in the game and feel sorrow

I remember when I played this game back in 2014, I started a mission in Kingston (I think a side quest), but at the start there was a dialogue with a slave, and there was this song at 1:08 matching perfectly while Edward and the slave were looking in the eyes in silence. It was a random thing, but one of the best memories I have of this game 😥
