THANK YOU! A bootleg of this production was how I first got introduced to this great musical, and I've been trying for 5 years (Unsuccessfully until now) to find a copy of it. Considering the news today, I felt it appropriate to revisit this show

Wow, the Ballad Singer is tremendous. Not only a great voice, but great intelligence and clarity to each line.

This show (and its subject matter) has been on my mind given recent events. I can’t help but revisit this.

There was a local production in the 90s where, at the very end, after the gunshot, the stage went dark, above the stage was a silhouette of Kennedy’s coffin being pulled by horses with John John saluting it (like the famous photo. It was gut wrenching

Saw Donmar warehouse theatre London , Sam Mendes production in 1990s. The best just amazing and truely moving and brilliantly acted. My fav musical .

I don't know, I think the play works so much better when the balladeer transforms into Oswald. It really packs a gut punch.

Yeah, Duncan as the balladeer is fantastic in this but thematically i think him turning into oswald is way stronger.

We saw Shuler Hensley (Czolgosz) as the Frankenstein Monster ("Young Frankenstein") and Marcellus ("The Music Man")/ Alex Brightman ("Zangara") also starred on Broadway in the title role as "Beetlejuice."

Im so glad I stumbled upon this. I have been in an Assassins obsession for while so having this production be recorded is a godsend. God I loved everything about this production. From the staging to the performers god this was so good.

@@TheMasterPooperso true😭😭 Cannot wait for the song, I really wish Sondheim was still with us I can imagine a song like Ballad of Booth where you can genuinely feel & understand each perspective, maybe even with it being more a grey area on whether the person was in the "right". Also 😭 def could be a quartet after what happened last week

@@ErikChampneyCreepy indeed, not to mention the little (creepy in hindsight) twist in this production at the 1:45:26 finale mark. Gives me goosebumps today, even though it’s completely, utterly unrelated to how the showrunners maybe thought audiences would react to it.

@@fallingcrane1986 I’ve had this footage for years. It wasn’t a planned upload either. Suddenly, it was July 4th and it felt like I needed to share it. And boy oh boy, that moment you tagged packs a punch and is so unexpected.

Unique, brilliant show, but I have a complaint. Sorry-but many productions elect to use the actual Zapruder film which I simply do not want to watch under any circumstances, or in any context. At least Encores used stills. But still…
@vinylcomets4 ай бұрын
Yeah I get the idea they were going for, but I think it’s in real poor taste to use real footage of a man dying.
@annorabelle3 ай бұрын
I feel like Zapruder himself would be appalled to be honest.
