They let nostalgia make this game and it failed because of that. No Mercy is 🔥🔥🔥 for its time but not what we need from a modern wrestling game. Day Of Reckoning brought the no mercy style back perfectly but lacked in other areas. Fight Forever lacks in almost all areas.

The Aki n64 are still the gold standard of wrestling games. You don't need a million modes to be fun. And before people argue with me I literally own almost every wrestling game from 90s onwards including the Japanese exclusives. As much as i like the 2k games they are getting stale.

No Mercy has a good story mode, good features like backstage roaming, random interferences, great weapon selection, bomb roster etc. But I personally feel 2k19 should be the standard for a modern wrestling game. Universe Mode, Goated roster, backstage roaming, more interactivity with the ring and its surroundings, and many other features you would want in a wrestling game. 2k22-2k23 tries to build off of 2k19 but they broke too many things so those games dont feel as good as they should.

One of the more frustrating things is all the changes they could make that are already in the game that would for sure strengthen the replayability of offline mode. Handicapped match, 3-Way Ladder match, and 4-Way Lights Out match are already in the game in RTE mode. The ability to have a Tornado Tag match I have to imagine is already in the game. The PPV intros from RTE mode can be used for the simplest of introductions for a simple Create-a-PPV mode. Maybe let me put a BCC shirt on Moxley or Danielson...because it's already in the game. So many easy things that would lessen the slap in the face that is everything else. I can't imagine being a Switch player who bought the Elite edition now waiting for any word on the release date for the Acclaimed DLC.

This may be a "TLDR" post but here it is. There truly should be a law for this type of stuff. I mean if a person buys the "top tier" edition of anything especially a game; then they should have anything as part of the updates and DLC. So for a "X" amount and "X" period of time; a person should be entitled to everything that is to come with the content/product they purchase. Tier levels work for all parties if they stick by the rules. Base level means just that, "base" game and updates to fix something broken. Mid-level should be what we see now. You buy the game and content/DLC after because you didn't want to spend for everything at said time. Then Last Tier or Best Tier (Season Pass) should be anything that is going to be put out should be an option to be included into the game as the customer see fit. They download what they want and get all updates. No extra charges. I know this is long but it shouldn't be that hard to pull off and everyone would be happy.

At this point, I'm done. I've tried giving these new wrestling games a shot. I even started to enjoy AEW more because of the fun factor. So I had hopes that they'd be better with communication. That we'd start to get more content in the item shop. Maybe buy arenas, caw parts, ring attires etc. But nothing, only these slow drops of season passes. I'm exhausted by it. So from now on. When it comes to wrestling games. I'll play them on the PS2 & PS3. Our last hope is Ultra Pro wrestling.

Honestly, you said everything about how I was feeling. I thought when I bought the elite edition that I was going to get every single added on bonus just like how it works with WWE 2K when you buy their season pass or etc. and when I logged on and saw that I had to buy the acclaimed, I was like OK that kind of sucks but whatever then I saw that there was actually a second edition, which had the beat the elite mode and the acclaimed and something else I can’t remember though. I felt kind of cheated at the fact that I just bought the acclaimed and realized that I could have just bought that other addition, and gotten everything that I wanted. But I still was upset at the fact that I had to buy that again because when I bought the elite edition, I thought that everything else was just going to be downloaded. I don’t remember having to buy hook or Danhausen or any other wrestlers that have been added to the game so far other than the acclaimed. For me I do enjoy playing the game, but it still needs more and I’m hoping that they can improve it big time with you know some new modes may be increasing the story length as well. But I guess we’ll have to see.

I bought this game for about $40 from GameStop today and have yet to unwrap it because I wanted to make sure I didn't want to return it. I searched and found many thumbnails and titles hating on the game only to find out it is about the DLC model. I'm not complaining about that, make your money. I'm just questioning is the game itself that bad? I'm not a huge fan of AEW and I'm not that much into who is and isn't on the roster. I just like 3D wrestling games and games with decent create-a-character options.

Great retrospective and summary of the issue. When the game released and we saw the reviews, it seemed pretty clear given the development history of the game that something isn't right. Now we see the effects of that "something." Safe to say it's better to wait until they sunset all development and make a "GOTY" edition. And I use that term... very loosely.

That doesn't make sense. It's a live service game. You're approaching it as if it's an annual. This is not 2K's DLC model. If you want them to improve the game, you actually have to put money into, or you're sending the wrong message.

I hear you, but live service games don't usually repackage the base game with whatever current DLC they have currently out, and call it a different version of the game. Then release more DLC and repackage again. The DLC also has been underwhelming for the price they charge per DLC. And it's only been six months. Also, as a general note, calling the game a live service doesn't necessarily mean it's going to continue indefinitely. Look what happened to marvel avengers. I'm not trying to be overly negative, but you can't deny the multiple delays this game had, and the underwhelming game that was released eventually. You can easily see a scenario where they can call it a live service game in order to buy more development time, and money, to release content.

Almost certainly no extra wrestler is coming in season 2. All over XBox shop the Bring the Boom Edition is advertised as "PLUS access to Matt Hardy, Broken Matt Hardy and Seasons 1 and 2 DLC, totaling 10 wrestlers". 10 wrestlers means toni storm is coming on her own I'm afraid. However we do get this...."a new arena, an all-new tournament mode AND 10 new tracks". The word "AND" is doing a lot of hard work in that sentence. The way season 2 was released and marketed is just the most recent baffling decision by AEW Games

I was so excited for this because it’s Yukes. Yukes used to make all the WWE games since 2000. Their absence in WWE was so severe that WWE 2K20 ended up being so bad that they skipped WWE 2K21. the worst part is they have a lot of mini content adds they could do to make these drops even better: Fight For The Fallen Fyter Fest Winter is Coming Collision...etc setups would be nice Maybe even ROH and some of their belts More attires like they did with the last couple. A lot is on the table for them, especially since this is as close as we have been to live updates for a game, I'm assuming is supposed to last and continue to be built upon. @@tonchigaming7238 I play them both, have both games on my channel and honestly they are the same game but the FF has been polished a little, it is a little smoother, but if you play Raw for PC again or watch videos of it, you can tell it is the same game, the animations of the blocks, reversals and movements, running, getting up from ground, the way you are blocked from doing a grapple after they just get up, the animations for everything are exactly the same the whole feel of the game and the controls are the same pretty much but they have worked on it a little, I admit that. If you have the game still, play it again and you will feel like you are playing FF. It feels the same.

I Bought the Elite Edition and I do feel ripped off. My overall experience with the game left me very disappointed. I Beat it, Unlocked everything and uninstalled it and I haven't looked back since. Way over priced for what they offered at launch. I felt the Campaign was Lackluster, Bored me to death with the stupid Restaurants. And you had to replay it to fully unlock different things because of different paths. I can only do Exhibition Matches so many times. I wasn't a fan of the Mini Games. I still feel like they Advertised Broken Matt Hardy as a 2nd playable Character with unique Entrance/Music.. Not just it being an Alt skin for Base Matt Hardy. Honestly I feel VERY Ripped off by this Game, I would get my money back if I could but.. Sony.

I bought the elite edition on the Microsoft store and within two weeks got two packs and the preorder packs . I then asked for a refund and got it, in full ,from Microsoft . Much later i got a second hand copy of the game and when i loaded it all the packs i had been given were restored. These guys got the Hard part right the game play besides the pin animation and running animations is great but how did they mess up on the easy part like match types no tornado tag no cage new plus no modes this game Hot Garbage 🗑️

I personally don't think the game is salvageable. The brand isn't strong enough, the developers don't have a strong enough reputation to put faith in, and AEW as a whole has gone stale.

They try to replicate without understanding. They also forget the point of the wrestling business is to make money, not just fulfill fantasies

So they're bundling the dlc for new players... which people have been complaining about that there's not enough players but the people who already own the game somehow feel slighted? People need to stop having WWE brain and constantly comparing how 2K does things. 2K have been using an outdated model that THQ used in the SVR games. We haven't had competition in the wrestling game genre for over a decade and when one comes along and actually does things on par with industry all people do is complain. 2K uses an annual release. They have a 20 year head start reusing modes and assets. Their DLC is backed into their year release which is finite because they know exactly when they're going to pivot to the next game. They have the WWE licensee for prosperity sake and are in a position to take loses. They got the big well-known brand, they have the baked in fans that will buy every year no matter what, they have the inertia that comes with being around so long. They don't have to take chances. They released 2K20 and released a barely passable 2K22 and it sold like gangbusters. And many people said prior to its release "I just want it to work." That's the incredibly low bar they needed to pass while everyone scrutinizes Fight Forever under a electron microscope with a fine-tooth comb ignoring that No Mercy was the 6th game in it's run and 2K23 is 20+ and Fight Forever is a first effort being made by 3 companies working together for the first time with language and time zone barriers built during a worldwide epidemic. 2K has their 100 buck + collectors edition and nWo editions where literally everyone in their except for Bischoff was on disc in other gimmicks They release Cactus Jack as DLC or MyRise, then have him as the main roster in the next game, and he's still on disc for the next game but they make him inaccessible and sell a new updated Cactus as DLC. And even then they'll drop a dlc pack like the Ruthless Aggression pack (which is missing Shelton Benjamín) and Bad Bunny DLC who was in the last game and his theme is already in the current for 10 dollars for one guy. They release packs with Zeus and Harley Race and don't give you anyone to feud with but they don't catch the same criticism because years of WWE control and propaganda telling the drones that anything else is bootleg and has to be delivered at an insane level of quality or it isn't good while WWE and 2K can fart out the same game with a few tweeks every year the same piss poor Macho Man model. 2K never gets held to the same standards. Who is their current Marcus Stephenson? When AEWGames or THQNordic send out feelers or a tweet the community says so what. When they release a patch with 100+ fixes from a document they showed was being compiled the community is like "What have you done for me lately?" When they say they're releasing more seasons its "Who cares the game's still dead just admit you've given up on it." When its said that The Acclaimed, Swerve, Saraya, and Jamie Hayter are dropping, people say it's too expensive when they buy $120+ nWo edition chuck filled with guys who are already in the game with no problem. 2K gives on NXT 2.0 arena for free after years of reselling us the Monday Nitro set on disc and DLC now AEW needs to give us free arenas just because. It's a ridiculous double standard, a lack of patience and entitlement that seems to go only one way. It's like people WISH there was only WWE 2K games without competition because things were SO GREAT when they didn't HAVE to try. Where's the demands for free stuff from the guys who sell us the barely updated game every year. "Yea we rebuild Yuke's 20 year old engine and zoomed in some camera views but otherwise the gameplay is the same. Or hey "We rebuild universe mode on the MyRise engine but it feels exactly the same but hey now you have War Games which ends as soon as the last person gets in and the bell rings ok where's my 120+ Icon Edition bucks." Also with the icon editions you don't get the MyFaction updstes to use in exhibition

The advantage of having so many wrestling games to emulate and follow was underused by damn near every metric. There’s literally over 2 decades of missing content. the thing for me is that the creation suite isn't in-depth enough (the navigation is horrid as well, and no community downloads). I spend more time in 2K creating than I do actually playing, so I could almost overlook the other things if they had the creation suite on point.

I only play games on switch so this is my only wrestling game. I will say it is not as good as the 2k series (it’s better the 2k20 and battlegrounds) but it’s good for the first game wrestling game on switch in a few years. I give it a 7/10

I like to create characters and have the computer fight matches with itself so I can essentially watch a wrestling show with MY created characters. So, this game never looked like it was for me. I will just stick with Fire Pro Wrestling World. ❤

this game is developed by Yuke's so it makes you think is if this is what they wanted to do to the WWE Games which is why they were taken off of the development of the WWE Games. Now Yuke's is a great developer but it seems like they're just worried about money when they would make more money if they made a game that was feature complete and the DLCs added more to the game
