Great video with good explanation! A little more than 7 years later but is some how better at teaching some general knowledge about gears than my actual teacher.

OMG, I am so glad I stumbled across your vid to learn a/b drawing spur gears - My goal is design planetary gear systems and with this vid, I feel I am well on my way! As well, as I curb my antagonism from other incompetent posters who lamely attempt to present this same concept, with the likes of 'low volume, horrible dialect and pronunciation and just down right uncertain about their next moves, it is a complete joy to learn from you. I am a subscriber as of this vid! thanks, man!

New to inventor here. What if you want to create a single small 14 tooth gear? I can replicate what you are doing, but I don't understand what parameters to change without causing a conflict. Soon as I change number of teeth, a conflict occurs. Why can't I just request that I want a single 5mm thick spur gear at 12mm wide, a 2mm hole with 14 teeth as a component and not an assembly? Just want to make a copy of a broken odometer gear to make on my 3D printer. But it looks as if I will have to manually make this as a sketch and then extrude vs using a design accelerator.

Just right click on spur gears in the assembly view box and check "flexible." I missed it until somebody on a forum pointed it out. Oh, constrain the center of your gears to pivot points first though.

Hey great video, i've been trying to get to grips with the generator, but cant find out how to sketch on the gears, (make a centre hole). I also is it possible to make a worm face gear? Thanks

is there a reason to avoid making both gears at once in the Spur Gear dialog box? Does it make them less flexible in terms of offset, etc?

Can you please make a tutorial on how to resize these gears?? I am trying to fit these inside a mechanical toy model for a school assignment, but I need them to be a lot smaller than they are by default.

is there possibly an easier way of doing it? you already made it simple by going through it step by step. (thank you by the way) but i hate messing with all the little tab settings because I think i will mess something up. also, how could i make this work with planeraty gears?

Hello i cant find the "Design" tab on my inventor... im using inventor 2014, i'm sorry im new on using inventor and i really need to finish a proyect... thanks for your help

Bernabe Rial probably too late now but you were probably in a part, you need to be in an assembly

Im having a massive problem trying to figure out how to make gears a specific size. I want a 2:1 gear set, need the large gear to be ~25mm. I can find no obvious way to do this. I wish there were simpler way to make gears like define the diameter you and ratio you want and it makes it for you. Every time I change a setting in inventor I get to a place where there are errors so I can never really figure it out. :( This seems to be an extremely frustrating and inefficient way to make simple gears.

Can you please do a remake with 2017 Inventor ?? Most school has that version and i've been trying to make a prototype involving vex gears. MASSIVE EDIT : Nevermind, thank you so much: i didnt think the old version was very similar to the 2017 version. Thank you so much.

How do you make them thinner? I put in these exact measurements but it came out like 6 inches wide
@mariodecarolis59073 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, are you working in Inventor 2014. Did you start with the standard metric template?
@michaelfromvsauce56043 жыл бұрын
@@mariodecarolis5907 hey! No, I was using the 2020 version but I got it figured out, thanks.

You deactivated "grounded" for the part and then later you did constraint the part to the XY plane. Isn't that the same thing? What's the difference?

Right, he did. He's going so fast he doesn't realize what he's saying in the video ~
