He's ALIVE! I was just thinking that it's been a while since I've watched one of your videos. I always really enjoy your workflow and the projects you show. Thanks for making the time to share a new project.

I have designed and built 3 CNC routers / mills. One thing that I learned is to not assume that everything will be square when assembled. Usually builders will all for the Z axis to be squared to the bed. But, the X -Y axis squareness needs to be addressed as well.
@WinstonMakes5 ай бұрын
Wise words. I do have a plan to address that once the gantry and electronics are installed. And it's why I'm probably going to steal upgraded electronics from the Shapeoko 5 rather than reuse the Shapeoko 3 controller so I can rely on independant Y-axis homing on each side of the machine.

By the way, I can get you any threaded tapped table tops. We do these for co-bot tables. Drilled, tapped, anodized.

"I'm not German or Swiss, so that's good enough for me" I'm currently building a CNC and am both Swiss and German... Not sure if I should be scared of integration hell or take it as a compliment :D

how do you get motion too reconize the bigger cutting area on the shapeoko 3xxl mines thinks it still has the stock bed size
@WinstonMakes9 күн бұрын
If you're running the latest version of Carbide Motion (v6), you need to run the setup wizard again. Otherwise, I believe it's in the settings.
@bradlyjohnson609 күн бұрын
@WinstonMakes I am running the latest carbide 680. I just got the machine and in new too cncs, it's upgraded too a 32"x56" the x seems to be right but my y only does about half the table, so if I go into debug and in machine settings? In there it give max x z and Y values is that where I make the changes?

How were you threadmilling dry ? Datron cutters have some black magic !!
@WinstonMakes5 ай бұрын
I'm going light on the cutters, slightly smaller feed per tooth than I'd usually go. That means finer chips that are easier to blow out of the hole and less likely to clog. Need a sharp cutter for this, so you're still forming a chip and not grinding out dust.

Are the nomad tubes available anywhere?
@WinstonMakes5 ай бұрын
No, but you don't need Nomad tubes to do this. Any thick-walled extrusions would work. I'd recommend 2x2" square profiles.
