The Grande Ronde Valley in the Blue Mountains is a rift valley with an escarpment several thousand feet high. It's the 2nd largest fully enclosed Valley in the world.

You should test triangle lake rock slides and see if it matches, and also billings/gold beach for Columbia river basalts. Triangle lake rock slides are lava flows that form a waterfall and water slides. Shotgun Creek bed is lava flow also and contains gold quartzite. Worth checking out.

Kula + Farallon motions = PNW clockwise rotation?
@Steviepinhead4 ай бұрын
Generally informative explanation, but the failure to incorporate the clockwise rotation left a large explanatory gap. Baja-BC movement in the late Cretaceous was sonehow conflated with much more recent movements on the San Andreas and Queen Charlotte-Fairweather faults. The Yellowstone hotspot track can be followed not just back down the Snake River Plains, but underlies the Steens and Columbia Basin lava flows and, even earlier, the formation of Siletzia. And the Josephine ophiolites are cognate with the Ingalls ophiolites, and thus may well be an example of "Baja" terrane in OR. Hard to fit all this into one hour, for sure!

Oregon is just America's version of Italy.. especially Northern Italy. They don't mention longitude and latitude that kind of stuff.. good video but they still have lots to learn.
