If you wanted to make them really annoying you would make the screws require different types and sizes of screwdrivers. Some torx, some hex, some philips, some flat and so on. No using one type of screwdriver and going to town.

We had our friend 3d print one of those for us but we used 4 different screw heads and had him print tools for these random screw heads. Also he used a very soft filament which meant the receiver of the gift had to be careful when disassembling or he could easily strip the screws. It took us about 4 hours to assemble it, and about 7 hrs for our friend to disassemble. Love these boxes.

Neat gift box idea! Sounds like a great way to keep sibling rivalry alive! I agree with others who suggested different fastener sizes and types, and even reversed threads mixed in. No sense in making it easy for someone with an electric driver to throw on a single matching bit and blast through all the fasteners. Someone made a good point about the giver having to endure all the screws and lids, etc., just like the victim. I have a suggestion for the maker of this box: Integrate internal locking clips so that the box comes fully assembled but open, and once the gift is placed inside, two halves click together permanently or at least aren't un-clickable without opening the box the hard way. Think back to the last time you locked your keys inside your car. (Maybe that isn't your "last" time. 😆) The hard part is getting it unlocked; it was super easy, too easy, to lock the door! Let's see that approach with the next version of the gift box. Depending on his 3D printer and the materials and design, he might even be able to print the clickable shell halves with plastic screws already in place, so that there isn't a ton of extra labor on his end, prior to shipping, nor on the buyer's end, when locking a gift inside. The redundant parts screwed onto the outside of the main box, too, could be one-way quick latched. With my suggestion of snap-to-lock features, all the suffering would be saved for the victim.😆 What do you guys think? Edit: Regarding "print the clickable shell halves with plastic screws already in place," that assumes that it's possible to print a screw in place without melting into the hole in the box. Although I do know some physics and engineering, I know very little about 3D printing. Hence I don't know whether it's feasible to print the screws in place, in the holes. But, sure seems like a nice idea.

Risky to print in place. Lot of printers you'd not have consistency or tolerances for something like that. Also, few can change colors mid print. I'd be worried you'd click it together without knowing 2 of the screws misprinted and weren't removable

There’s a little marble that you have to roll through the maze in a clear box and it’s a 360 maze so you have to keep flipping the thing and it hits a lever that releases the gift. Reminds me of a time I bought my sis earrings just because. The box closed with a roll of duct tape, in a larger box closed with 2 rolls, which got duct taped to the bottom of a refrigerator box with a metal plate in the bottom for some weight I figured it wouldn't register at the time how light it actually was....it worked. But I filled the refrigerator box with styrofoam packing peas loose of course....over 20yrs later I still hear about it on her birthday 😅.
