I grew up with a Cessna 150 (tail number N51305). The grey paint is actually Radar Absorbing paint. At our high school, my brothers, sister, and I wore flight jacket's with our own project patches sewed on (something similar to the flight jackets in Iron Eagle). I built a Cessna 150 model of our Cessna 150. I also made the winglets and the stall naca shape. Our actually Cessna 150 could take off at 12mph. With the right head wind you can fly backwards.

I've had the larger sized Horizon Cirrus go full throttle when I was going to adjust it's position. My 2 year old was close and when I grabbed the wing it swung around and filet'd my leg above the ankle a few times. I don't know how but it also sliced my shorts and a couple smaller cuts on my thigh. Blood was dripping down my leg and my sandals were making squishy noises like they were wet when I was walking back to the car. I should have gone to the ER, but I didn't. I actually went on a vacation at a lake the next week and went swimming. Long story, but after a year it finally closed up completely and now I have a softball sized smooth red scar above my ankle. That was a 3S airplane, and it can do some damage I can tell you that!

@@Thercgeek I was surprised to read all the other comments about others getting chopped up too. If you had mentioned it in the title of the video I wonder how many more people would have seen it and talked about it. I bought that Cirrus off of someone on Craigslist and didn't hook it up to the computer to check all the settings before using it, that was my problem. My transmitter is the DXe version that has to use the USB cable to program anything, perhaps a better one would have been able to set it up to not go full throttle as a fail safe, which is what I think happened.

The same thing happened to me, but with a giant scale trainer/DLE 30cc. One careless moment = 16 stitches across three fingers. Not a great thing for a guitarist. I was warned about the dangers of hand starting a gas plane while alone at the field, but thought "That will never happen to me." Then, while trying to adjust the choke I inadvertently pushed the plane back towards the tie town on the tail, creating slack. As soon as the engine started, the plane jumped forward and the prop hit my hand. It all goes to show, you can't be too careful so don't get complacent like I did.

Despite people calling it a “cheesy 80s movie” I am a proud fan of it. Seriously, the first time I saw it, I was on pins and needles towards the end. The flaps down always bothered me. Probably just wanted to make it close with notcher! I wonder how that movie would have turned out if Doug had been listening to Danger Zone? I gotta admit, I like iron eagle better than Top gun because TG is too much of a flick for me. That being said, the flying sequences in both films were exceptional, except for iron eagle seemingly gaining and losing ordinance at random! Iron Eagle is the reason that I love F-16s, which is my most flown RC jet design!

Nice review and way more helpful than most. Ignore those negative comments. The couple I saw were obviously just jealous of your channel. You do a great job and help many people. One question, how the hell did you open up those robart bushings to get the axles through. It seems robart came up with the worst idea ever for wheel axle size adjustment? If you don't get the right bushing they are near impossible to drill out nicely.
@Thercgeek5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! To drill them out, I held the bushings in some pliers and just drilled it out. Certainly not clean, but it works. The key is to step up the drill size little by little. Otherwise the drill will catch and then rotate the whole part in the pliers.
@STG3Stang5 жыл бұрын
@@Thercgeek yeah that's what I did but it's not ideal. They tend to squish in the pliers a little so you have to keep letting them rotate and hold them in a several different rotations to get a result it's even close to round. It kind of tears them up a little. I mean they work but I honestly think robart came up with the most screwed-up method for adjusting for axle size. Just give me hub with a small hole and let me drill it out for what I want. Don't give me something that you can hardly drill or when you do it comes out fugly. Thanks again for a the work you have put in to help the rest of us. I think you get credit for the solution to the biggest mistake Eflite made on the Cessna--those noisy wheels.

Ok bud. One more question for u one the cessna. Hahaha. As we all know the eflite collars are almost impossible to loosen up without stripping. Every one of my eflites have garbage collars. U know what the axle size is on this thing so i can get some dubro collars? Thanks man!

How many Cost that plane?
@lennyz8532 жыл бұрын
Can you still buy this one? All I see now are the t series.
@Thercgeek2 жыл бұрын
You can only get the tail dragger. That said, then model still has the mechanics for the tricycle gear. So, if you can get a set of gear, you can make the tail dragger the tricycle configuration.

Dose anyone know the approximate flight time?
@Thercgeek6 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the battery capacity. I flew mine with 5800 packs and was getting 5-6 minutes pretty easily with lots of reserve in the packs. The airplanes big enough you could probably even run 8000 mah packs.
@tristanruel6 жыл бұрын
The RC Geek thanks I am using a 5000mah battery would that be about 5 minutes?
@Thercgeek6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 5 minutes shouldn't be a problem.

Servo issues. I’ve bought and assembled this model plane but haven’t flown it yet. Just a question to all the owners of this model, do you get buzzing/hum from most of the servos when the plane is switched on and stationery? Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
@Thercgeek6 жыл бұрын
Servo buzz isn't that uncommon with digital servos. Are the servos moving at all or are they just making noise? When you operate them, are they moving freely?
@JohnA00096 жыл бұрын
They are all moving fine. Its just annoying hearing all of them humming/buzzing.

Thanks! It was a tough lesson, but one I definitely learned from! Although, it didn’t keep me from shooting the Avios mig 17 off my bench last year when I bumped the throttle, haha!

You shit foam? Wierd dude, stop plugging beers. Especially if you're not in highschool anymore. Even then it's still not cool to plug anything at anytime unless you're getting your prostate checked! 😄 Lol

When programming any plane the absolute FIRST thing I set up is a throttle cut switch with an audible note on the switch to let me know the throttle is cut. Too many close calls!!!
