So based on the previous video, the main difference between the scraper models, heavy duty. medium duty and light duty are the weight? Am I correct to understand that the outer front casting is made of different metals to achieve this? My manual covers the BL40 and BS40 (heavy duty) and the parts are all seemingly identical except the BS came with an extension handle. But I've seen people say that the castings use heavy or light alloy to change the behaviour.

You are correct. The front housing is made of different material is the only difference I can see. Also, the 7 ELM and BL 40 are basically the same scraper as is the 7 ESM and the BS 40 (heavy model). The BL 10 scraper and HM 10 flaker is obviously shorter but also thinner as well.
