Adrian, I'm looking forward to the work on the floor because you are such a Master after the salon. I think I like it so much because you have to improvise. We viewers come against wood rot and parasites and things that need too replaced so you give us courage along with ideas to accomplish our tasks, on a smaller scale of course. Carole, already your work on the hallway is outstanding. I look forward to every choice you make. The candles in the salon are a nice addition. You could end every vlog in the salon I love it. I also thought how I would love to have a book of your work in beautiful still life to peruse at leisure. You could put the before and after photos in a coffee table size book. Please consider that as an option because I would definitely buy one. You both are so wonderful, your wit and humor, I really appreciate the hard work but also your dynamics as a couple.

I was shocked by the 2-3 finger width between the bottom stair step and the floor, and so relieved you're tackling that support system Adrian. The difference in that whole front passageway from before is a continuing pleasant surprise. The white ceiling is eye-opening, and I can hardly wait to see what you do with the woodwork. Adrian, so glad you're committed to re-doing the hallway floor, it certainly needs it. How fantastic that you are even considering renewing more flooring Adrian. It will be wonderful knowing that all the floors are cleaned out and solidly reconstructed to last another 100 years and as you said, it will be much warmer. Great satisfaction must be felt in getting rid of all those crumbling supports and the old type sandy insulation. Chateau restoration is not for the fainthearted when you see the huge area outside that has to be tended to as well and I’m so impressed that you and Carole even make time to maintain a vegetable garden as well as all your DIY projects.

Oooo, that color combination sounds yummy. I was kinda hoping you might bring a slightly warm (creamy ) color into your entry, especially since the cold winters light reflects ‘cool’ on the walls/ceiling, making a cool white feel even colder. My homes’ winters are long as well, so, I don’t get a lot of direct sunlight or even ‘reflected’ sunlit walls in certain parts of the home. I love the lighter cream sample, not so much the mushroom colored one. But, Carole, you know what you’re doing, so, it’s going to be fabulous.

I think I would put in all new floor joists and treat it well before re-laying the parquet. Love the Salon and candles. Ceiling colours will bring out the details and lines of the corniche.

The salon is so beautiful. The sconces with electric flickering bulbs are gorgeous, & genius. You get the look without the soot or wax drippings. When you are feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of your restoration project, you can always go sit in your salon and marvel at the transformation you have achieved there. Adrian, you need to see if a local farmer would like to harvest that grass for his livestock or at least loan you a couple of sheep, or maybe a cow to help you mow it. Just kidding about the sheep or cow in your garden, as I'm sure they would also eat the vegetables & flowers in the garden beds, in addition to the grass, and make a mess. I like the candles, soft and romantic. I got excited when you said you were pulling up the floor and replacing the joist. I was thinking it might be a good idea to floor heat in while everything was torn apart. Then you could get rid of the cast iron radiators. But I guess it is just replacing the joist. How about putting a hall closet under the staircase to hide the boots, shoes, and coats It looks like a perfect spot.

Lots of work ahead, but it needs doing. No use in decorating if the foundations aren't sturdy ( floors, windows, roof). Love that you're going with white on the ceiling. I prefer the creme colour over the mushroom. It has all the non- metallic properties of gold, which is in keeping with salon. Those stairs are most certainly leaning towards that metal plate... I could see it when you were looking down the hall to the stairs. Ooo Carole those fake candles are lovely in there! Good job on that. Adrian... I do not envy you... you have a lot of work to do to get those beams all sorted and shored up... Not sure, but are those wood worm holes in the undercarriage beams of the entrance Hall??? They've had something eating away ot them... termites, woodworms, carpenter ants... they are all extremely distructive!!! Replace as much as possible while you have it open!!!
