I think the biggest problem with ACC is the inability to create a custom public lobby without having to rent a third party server. Half the reason the Monza and Spa lobbies are so popular is because when you search for a lobby race, these are the only ones that are populated (not the only ones but defiantly the majority)

you can, server software is in the tools in steam. Its very light too as long as lobby is smaller than about 20 people and race is shorter than an hour long.

Commenting from America. We are not as familiar with the gt series racing so it was confusing as to which dlc to buy. But I did buy them all eventually. Great content. Keep going

Monza is the Dust2 of ACC.

Spot On! ACC's DLC packaging/ marketing is completely confusing especially to the new player / consumer. I've been with ACC since launch and I believe the larger over-arching problem is accessibility. By that, I mean the presentation / ui to the new player. There is literally nothing within the game to guide the new / casual player. The typical retort to that is 'well, just go on YT and..." All those YT videos are both proof that in game tutorials / help screens are required and that the new player will probably not even understand the terminology used in them in the first place. Ask yourself: would you recommend ACC (as a first game / sim) to a friend who wanted to get started in sim racing - ?

@@magical5181 Obviously, everyone's 'barrier' will be different. ACC has literally nothing to guide the new / casual player. I take your point regarding iRacing. I've been sim racing since 1994; the video game marketing / packaging paradigm has changed completely. Sim racing will remain a niche hobby until developers / publishers make the effort to allow the new player to 'learn' how to use their products.

@@JPKelly-xr7tr yeah that makes sense, but one must admit that ACC is one of the easier to handle simulators when looking at its competitors. It’s one of the only full on simulators that keeps it nice and simple imo. The menus almost make it feel like an arcade, the thing that is tricky is tuning the car to your liking. But if you take for example rf2, iracing, raceroom, assetto corsa, then I’d say ACC is on the right path at the very least

I think you have the point with the problem but I can't say that I agree with you on the part what the problem is. Cars not being driven is not a surprise. When was the last time when you heard "damn, I am tired of the same cars in ACC, I want to drive something else"? people crave for the new tracks and the fact you can drive yet more cars is in this case less relevant. From my purely personal opinion utilizing (yet limited) kunos resources on the work around cars is a waste of time. 2nd thing which I can't fully agree on is the tracks not being used often. I agree that Monza and Spa are heavily over-represented but I drove Imola, Kyalami or Watkins Glenn quite frequent (and all are parts of different dlcs). I wish to see more lobbies with other tracks - especially my favourite Laguna Seca...but the DLC tracks are used (even awful snetterton but that thankfully is rare :P)

Automobilista 2 suffers from the same thing. It has $400+ worth of DLC. I'm not sure if all the DLC packs have unique content or not.

I used to buy all DLCs for ACC and AMS 2 but I stopped because it was just too much. Sure they need to earn more money but for the old DLCs they should make some cheaper bundles on steam. Like all from 2023 for 10-20 euros. AMS have at least open maps for everyone who joins the game that is big plus. There should be mess of the DLC when you look at the steam store. Just one or two bundles and the newest DLC.

He difference with ams2 is that you can join any travk on mp even if you don't own the dlc! If the server is running a dlc car you will need it unless it is a multiclass that include something you already owm.. But you won't require the track dlc.

Well, the thing that complicates this is Kunos/505 games paying money to license the reproductions of the cars and tracks and only being able to distribute them as their contract stipulates. I'd like to see a folding of all the DLC into the base game, but Kunos would likely have to renegotiate the licenses for the tracks. Who knows if that would mean a higher cost or not?

To be fair open lobbies are same on AC1 as well, all servers populated at all are Spa, Monza or Nordschleife. Casuals can't even learn those lol. The thing is though, servers with other tracks are always available but no one joins them sadly. I think it's a bit of a catch 22, no one joins so they are always empty, but they are always empty so no one wants to join them. LFM solves this but at that point you have to jump through hoops and it's not very beginner friendly in any means. What LFM does should be done in game really as a 1st party thing, but running those services and servers cost money, no wonder iRacing has a monthly subscription if you think about it. Sadly the answer is a lot more complicated than it seems at first glance...

I run 2 servers, soon to be 3 on here. One for GT3, one for GT4, and soon to be GT2 once i get the dlc. I have all other dlcs and on both of my servers, and soon to be my gt2 server, i run full track rotation if anyone is interested. The only problem with track rotation is, due to how ACC servers are, in order for it to cycle all drivers must leave the server for it to switch. It basically resets the server once the last driver leaves. Servers stay up 24/7 so if amyone is intetested then let me know, ill drop the server name.
