Haha this was bedlam! So rough out there, but I guess, as so many others have said, that’s touring car racing 🤣 the move on you into the chicane was a little too much though… he needed to be more alongside you at the braking point to earn a gap on the inside into the corner IMO. Also, honourable mention for the guy heading off down the full circuit on lap one… very amusing!

I use the clutch for race starts. The only time I don't use the clutch is with the mazda mx5s. They are low power enough that you can just slam full throttle and jump into first gear when the lights turn out and not have much wheel spin or stall out. This week I am doing the tatuus ft 60 and Ferrari 296 races and for both, I hold the clutch down with about 50% throttle on, when the first light turns red I go into first gear, the when lights are out, I drop the clutch to about 60% and then slowly fade it out whilst also increasing throttle. Gives me a decent enough start where everybody doesn't zoom past me. But it is also very complicated and occasionally I get the clutch drop wrong and lose 5 positions. I still can't figure out how other people get such good race starts. I have tried watching replays and looking on KZbin for other people who post their races. As far as I can tell, they use the mx5 method I described but when I do that for instance with the 296, I just craw off the line and drop 10 positions.

UPDATE I finally got a helpful youtuber to tell me how they got a perfect start. Thanks @Virtual_Racer_1. The secret is an assist called auto clutch. I have been playing Assetto Corsa for almost 3 years and didn't know about this.This assist is allowed in the lfm servers so it will work there too. To enable it, when joining an lfm race, there will be an assists menu in the bottom left corner of the join screen. You can enable it there. Alternatively, go to drive menu in conten manager and there is a little menu next to "tyre blankets" where you can enable it. (It just occured to me that the reason I don't have this assist on is because my driving preset is set to ''pro" which disables all assists 😢😢) Using auto clutch for the race start is pretty simple. Hold the throttle at around 50% and when the lights go out, shift into first and floor it, the assist will do the rest. Feel like a complete idiot for not knowing. Also feels a bit like cheating since I was so used to engaging the clutch manually. But hey, its allowed and other people are using it. Can't believe I messed up my few pole positions because I was not using an assit. 😢😢😢😢😢

Great racing, for the start you need to build your turbo boost if you put your gears on in content manager you will see a little red line inside your rev and that’s you boost. The official launch doesn’t work in LFM races

All the best I just found balancing the clutch was really good last season. If you want to do full launch and don’t have a handbrake I watch a KZbin vid to map the very top of my clutch pedal to work as a handbrake and it works amazing well

That's a really hard incident to call in all honesty, first thoughts would put it on Magnussen, it's already not a great idea to overtake there, he wasn't really far enough alongside, and then he just bombed the apex. Not a lot else you could really do without just letting it happen, and then that wouldn't really be racing in my opinion!

@@akunin417 yeah that’s basically my feeling but that ultimately it’s a racing incident and nothing malicious. Just one of those things at this track and in these cars. It did cross my mind to just totally open the steering but I was really trying to not get caught in the pack again having lost places earlier in the race when the field bunched up again. Never mind!
