​​@@nephildevilbe aware quest and in general all headset with no Displayport uses video compression to deliver the video stream to your headset, which can cause compression artifacts, blotchiness and loss of detail, especially on low contrast darker areas. You'll need a very high bitrate to make it nice (500Mbit the bare minimum), otherwise the gain from higher definition lenses is lost in lack of detail from the compression. Also your GPU is responsible other than rendering your game, to encode the video stream to your headset in realtime, which can chip a good 15-30% of your GPU performance, depending on type of game, optimisation,GPU power, etc. I had the Pico 4, and the max bitrate was 250mbit using some tweaks. Especially with racing games which has very fast moving pixels and scenario, there was a lot of compression artifacts and general lack of detail, especially far away and in shade areas. Ended return it and keeping the Rift S which even though has lower res panels and old lenses, it still has an uncompressed video input and the image is not compromised by compression. Also the cable and interface on Quest/Pico, is USB, which add latency to your rendering. If you'd like to try it be sure you can return it for free and easily (Amazon?). Hope this helps! 😊

Hi, sorry to ask the question, but you indicate "VR" in the title but your "single screen" settings in Assetto do not allow you to be in Vr. Did I miss something in your video?

I use single screen only to show settings, makes it easier to read. In the last section of the video where I showcase the results I use VR

@@LoWreck Okay, I have an Rtx4080 and when I activate filter I get stuck at 72 FPS. So when I deactivate, even with 40 cars I'm at 90 FPS. And i see YOU don’t have the problem. I will try your configuration.

@@LoWreck The problem is that I have 72 FPS with the filter activated and only one car. And 90 FPS with 40 cars and the filter disabled.

If the sky is black, set the weather to SOL and one of the weather options.

Great video! You have earned my subscription. I noticed you're still running the OG Oculus rift. Can you please share some tips on configuring this headset in 2023 with the debug tool?. I had not used my VR Setup in about a year, after all the updates it's really running like crap. Dropping frames and insane latency. If you or anyone can help out. 😅

Hey, thank you, much appreciated! Yeah, I'm still on the OG Rift, haven't yet updated, but is in the plan to do so. I'm using the Oculus Tray Tool, it's basically like the debug tool, but it will set those settings every time you boot up. As for settings, mainly what I've changed was to set Super Sampling to 1.5, much more performance friendly than doing it in-game, and disabled ASW mode, which helps a bit with performance as well. If you're experiencing frame drops, that usually means something is struggling, either GPU or CPU. Also what helps a lot in games that don't support Oculus VR it is recommended you use OpenComposite, should give a huge boost of performance over SteamVR.

@@LoWreck Thanx for your reply! Before all the updates, I had the system running at a solid 90fps with moderate graphics. My system is a 1070 with Ryzen 5 2600 and 16GB RAM. Not the fastest nor the slowest. I will install the Tray Tool and give it a shot. Before you update the headset, a proper send off to this OG headset would be awesome. Maybe a video out of it.... Thanx again.

update, found the problem. On Pure config, Light tab, scroll down until you find UI lighting, crank that boy up and save. Best way i was able to read and find it was kept pressing load on pure config and it made it slightly easier to read.

How you make your track not so slippery because in game when rain like that it so unrealistic feels like you drive on oil😂

That was only in-game direct weather change on the go for presentation purposes, so grip was still 100%. Are you trying to use wet weather tires?

My game is setup to automatically use wet tires. I want to see rain but don't want the track to be slippery. Even with an in game change, the track becomes slippery for me.@@LoWreck

@@auldthief It also heavily depends on the car I feel. Some cars drive just fine in the wet, like nothing's changed, while others are a challenge, no matter the settings and tires.

@LoWreck so my experiernce is way different here. I followed your instructions, even downloaded the file, but my sky is black, with seemingly multiple suns. Although I could change Pure when I was in single screen mode, in VR mode the settings are different, the settings can't be changed and I can't load in a preset!! Can you help?? In single screen mode, the colors are looking fine - in VR - it's the black sky... I have no idea what is going on!!

Do you maybe have SOL installed? Pure suggests you uninstall SOL.

@@LoWreck Good call - I did, so uninstalled it but same issue - black sky. Even in single scrneen mode I get the same issue - black sky and cant change any Pure settings or import a settings file :(

why did you make a video about VR settings but then completely keep all your settings for single screen and just ignore vr settings.

The settings that I show are the ones that I use. Reason why I have single screen selected, is because I was showing the Pure Config in single screen configuration, which is easier to do on a flat screen. If you set up all your Pure Config stuff in single screen, and click on SAVE before closing the game and then re-opening it in VR, the settings will be saved. In the final section of the video, I also showcase the driving with those exact settings (the only difference being Rendering Mode set to VR in Content manager) while driving in VR.

@@TiemeHv FPS depends on the grid size. Alone I easily run at 90FPS constantly, with about 20-ish cars that will already start dropping to 45 at times. I tried to record the latest classic Le Mans video in VR and max settings, I think the CM displayed min FPS as 30. It was still ok from within the headset, I could notice some stutters here and there, so I believe I was running mostly at 45FPS, but the video that I captured was useless at night, some strange jumping left and right of the image, for some reason, never seen that before.

Did you do all the settings from the monitor and then play from the VR?

Yes, used the monitor only for showing it on video, makes it easier than to do it in VR

@@emabia72 yes, you need to remember to hit Save, and when you load up in VR it should load them. If you want 2 different settings, one for screen and one for VR i.e., you need to save and export them both and then manually import whichever you want to use.
