Yes, people can have anxiety and other issues, but it doesn't give them the right to question things way beyond their overthinking. Islam is a path where you can find answers and overcome your anxiety, but expressing your anxiety with ridiculous questions isn't right either. Her question about her grandfather not being Muslim, then her parents' marriage not being valid, and on top of that, her birth being considered illegitimate on a public platform, goes beyond anxiety or lack of knowledge. It reflects a lack of faith because she and her mother clearly didn't understand the basics of Islam to start with, nor did they attempt to understand it. Her mother seems to be poisoning her daughter's mind with very dangerous questions, and her own questioning of her elders in a disrespectful manner makes it clear it's not just a question of anxiety but an attempt to find faults to label her grandfather as less of a Muslim and herself and her mother as true believers. People can have questions, but there are limits when one thinks they are more Muslim by questioning beyond what needs to be questioned. Having the response to the question would make the person asking the question advising and telling his grandparents about it so they make the right choice. No? Not all scholars would respond like him. Most would respond gently. This shaikh probably has dealt with a lot of people overthinking and perhaps from his experience he knows that sugar coating it doesn’t stop people from overthinking to that degree and they need a hard stop. For those who are genuinely seeking the answers, please watch the full video. Basically, the person who asks the question made a great error by concluding a person who is not praying as a kaafir, that's where it starts. If a person who believes that a prayer is NOT one of Muslim's obligations has transgressed from Islam and therefore the person is not a Muslim. However, if the person wasn't praying because he/she was lazy, it is a great sin; their good deeds will not be accepted for 40 days each time he/she misses the prayer unless he/she repents and starts praying, they are however is still a Muslim and not a kaafir.
