It’s awesome what Nike does for amputees!! I wonder if any of the other shoe companies do the same thing. I’m so curious about your experience at nail salons that I’m going to call a couple salons in my area (Satellite Beach, which is 10 miles south of Cocoa Beach) and ask them if they give amputees half off. It’s half the work, so imo you should get half off. And not just a coupon for your next visit, because you still “have to” tip, so they’re really not giving you that great of a deal. Btw, people never cease to amaze me. I can hardly believe how often people randomly walk up to you and ask you how you lost your leg. 🤯

Oh wow, you’re from Satellite Beach? That’s actually relatively close to me. I’m only like 40 minutes from Cocoa. I actually just got some tattoo work done in Cocoa a few months ago. Did you actually call the shops? I’m curious what they said.

Crew9t Hey Johnny! I most certainly did! As a matter of fact, I called 12 different nail salons in Brevard County (both beachside and mainland) requesting the price for an amputee to get either a mani or pedi. Without fail, every single nail salon informed me that they wouldn’t offer a discount just because someone was an amputee. They told me that it wasn’t based on the number of limbs being serviced, but the amount of time and materials that would be required for the job to be done. That made absolutely no sense to me. I even tried “arguing” that it was half the job, should take half the time, and therefore should be half the price. Unfortunately no matter how much convincing I attempted, none of the salons were willing to budge on their pricing. I even had one salon owner tell me that it wasn’t their fault that someone was involved in an accident that left them an amputee, so why should they have to “suffer the consequences”. That was the 12th and final telephone call I made, as it was so discouraging and disheartening. I obviously wasn’t about to release any details about you, your accident, or any of your personal information, as I wanted the reactions to be genuine and organic. However, I’m now curious if any of those companies would have second thoughts if they knew who I was quoting a price for.

Hmmmm. That’s very interesting. I almost feel like I should make a video going into these salons and have them tell me to my face, before pulling up my pant leg and showing them that I am the amputee in question.
