Great video I bought the same tent with 2person inner and I am waiting for the parcel. I am a beginner for camping,your video helps me a lot :)

Thanks! It's a great little tent. I'd advise practising pitching it before you use it camping. It can be a bit tricky to pitch in the wind or on rough ground but once you get used to it you'll have it perfect everytime. I hope it works out well for you. Tom

I need to test it in some stronger winds but I can confirm it's definitely not cat-proof!

@@AdventureLite Hi again, thanks for the new vid, making me look at Aliexpress again! Think you said you prefer it to the trailstar clone? Interested in pros / cons between the 2? How is space / livability in the Asta compared with the trailstar? Love the fact I can sit in my trailstar, in front of the one man inner, with my legs stretched out, with a view out the doorway, and still have my self fully undercover! Like the options the doors give on this though, and the ability to seal up when needed
@AdventureLite
@AdventureLite 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! The two tents are very different beasts. The trailstar clone provides a lot more floor space, more pitching options and is more stormworthy as it sheds wind from all directions. The Astamid provides more headroom, a smaller footprint, easier ingress / egress, the ability to shut the door and only requires one pole. I think the workmanship on the Astamid is slightly better than the trailstar clone I own. It also has more features (zip door, hanging points, better reinforcement at the peak, additional guypoints, ventilation). For nights out in good conditions I'd probably chose the Astamid, if I was expecting strong winds I'd always go for the trailstar.

@@AdventureLite Thanks for the info. I was thinking the Asta might be a good addition to the Trailstar clone, as more of a 4 season tent, with ability to shut things up more, but if it's not as wind worthy, maybe not the best choice? MLD duomid is sometimes described as a 4 season tent, but I guess the Asta, while similar shape and size, just isnt made from same weight and quality of fabric, hence not as sturdy in strong winds?
@AdventureLite
@AdventureLite 4 жыл бұрын
The season rating is often more linked to snow shedding and snow load capability for which I think the Duomid would be better. But I think the Astamid (and Duomid) are likely to attract higher wind loads than the trailstar due to its higher peak & steeper sides. The trailstar has the option of being pitched really close to the which gives it an unmatched wind shedding profile.

You could take a 10-15cm piece of PVC pipe to use as a pole jack to raise the trekking pole too.

Do you think a person of 6 ft 1 will fit in it without touching the ends? And what about without the inner?
@AdventureLite

Hi there, sorry for the delay in replying. I think it would be a bit of a squeeze if you're over 6ft.

Great video, thank you. Can I ask the original Asta inner you said you had forgetting, the holes yours unfortunately had, was the mesh small enough to stop midges etc. Was going to order this inner with the tent, now undecided. Thanks again.
@AdventureLite
@AdventureLite 4 жыл бұрын
On the midge-agedon night in question there were so many midges in the inner tent I find it hard to believe they all got in through the holes in the inner. The holes were near the ground and midges tend to gather at the top or the peak of the tent. I suspect the mesh isn't fine enough to stop a UK midge, it may be designed to stop Mozis.

@@AdventureLitethank you, certainly made me think twice about it. Also not quite sure about the L shape of the single inner. Looks good from a more space for arms etc to put stuff but can't help think having to reach half way round the tent from outside to reach something would soon wear thin. Thanks again.

Great point! I filmed most of this on a hike a few weeks ago and it totally slipped my mind to show how spacious it is inside. The tent itself is really spacious for one with plenty of space for bags. The 3FUL inner would be a bit small for anyone over 6ft. I'm 5ft10 and it's just right for me.

Hi there, I've not used it for a while but I've been pretty pleased with it every time I have (about 10 times). The only issue is that you have to pitch it quite high to get a gap around the edge to reduce condensation.
