I'm not nearly as accomplished a seamstress, but I'm so happy I'm not the only one who makes clothes out of Goodwill sheets. :)

Wow, you too? As do I! Saves me so much money and is great for mock-ups! My first historical garment was actually an Edwardian ensemble! My skirt is a periwinkle blue walking skirt, the blouse is a crisp white. I wore this for my great-Aunt's birthday party in February. No one would ever guess this was made from sheets!

Add me to the list. My first venture was turning a 50-cent box sheet into 2 little ghost costumes. They turned out better than hoped. Love used sheets. Happy sewing everyone!

Idk if you'll see this but I have a question: if you wear a corset but don't own shifts, what would you suggest to wear under the corset?
@itsjxssica2 жыл бұрын
I’m no pro but I’d probably say wear a thin T-shirt or vest so you can still keep cool while wearing your corset! Hope this helps a little ❤😊

Tube tops work great, cotton tank tops work great as well! You can also go to Marshalls/tj max/ Amazon and google cotton nightgowns and those work great. I bought a frilly white cotton nightgown from Marshall’s and boom instant shift!

Wonderful video. Why is the purple (other then polyester composition) historicalIy innacurate. I love your appreciation for budgeting and your reuse of chemise Speaking of which: i am writing a time travel novel, so how would you, if you where time travelling several decades budget? Like could petticoats from 1835 work when the characters skip ahead to 1889? Or do the shapes of these decades silhouettes differ so much that the characters need to make summer and winter petticoats (one of the characters is Ethiopian and she goes to the opera in Moscow in November, so i presume she would wear a quilted petticoat) . Are there any particular decades where you could reuse the petticoats (like 1780s and 1880s, or 1530s and 1860s).
