I lived in Astana/Nur-Sultan for two years. I loved every second of it! Great modern apartment, well-stocked grocery stores, huge malls, excellent restaurants, lovely ballet and opera, wonderful hotels to stage events, have wonderful restaurants and spas. A few years ago I lived in Astana and worked on a project to build the American Embassy. Even then Astana was a modern and very interesting city. My apartment was in the old part of the city but there were still modern conveniences. There is a large Asian influence and the girls are beautiful. Most of the local employees that I worked with were very intelligent and all spoke three or four languages in addition to English. The Astana of today has grown extensively into the modern metropolis that it is at present. Maybe I will return there someday.

I love this video! It reminded me of the great time I spent there in Astana last summer. I honestly had low expectations because many people told me that the city lacks any character and soul (which is somehow true) but luckily, I truly liked the city and it turned out to be the most pleasant surprise I had in my trip to Central Asia. It's so clean and organized, and everything looked new and shining. On top of that, the Kazakh people I met there were incredibly nice and polite. It's painful to watch this video, though, because it brings up some beautiful memories 😁

I think it's a great city as long as you go there in summer. I used to live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada and the city has a very similar climate. Actually the city looks cleaner than most cities in USA.

It's quite clear near all the government sites and public buildings. However, there's a fairly low population density for a city of this size. There's also oil wealth used to fund an autocratic government. These things make it easier to keep it clean looking.

Моя любимая Астана, несмотря на все её недостатки. Мы с родителями переехали в Астану когда мне было 7 лет, выросла здесь. Было очень тяжко, но мы все выдержали. Многие из знакомых и родственников не выдержали жизни в суровом городе, в 2000х вообще сложно было, и многие уехали тогда. Astana is a modern amazing city. I would venture to guess that most Americans don't even know it exists let alone all the remarkable buildings and beautiful parks. This video was very well done and very informative to include historical information.. Just like everywhere else, there are lots of good people and children enjoying life.
