I was in Adwa when this album of Aster "Hagere" was released. I was 24. when I hear the music now, after 37 years, it took me back to Adwa, loving friends and the people in Adi abun and Adwa. Before 10 years, I had the chance to go to Adwa, Adi abun. I was excited to meet some of my friends. Sadly, when I approached to the house of my most loving friend, I was shocked to hear her death. I pray her soul rest in peace. But as I listen to this music, I feel everything buried in my hear moving. Good, bad, love, etc.

I can safely say that Aster is the first female in Ethiopia that run music as a business while most other singers were employees to different clubs and the government. She opened eyes to senior singers such as Bizunesh and Hirut and even several male singers. It is only after her that the Ethiopian music started making money. Aster is an irreplaceable icon. Long live!

listening Aster's music is like eating an icecream in cold night. because you want to eat the icecream because of it is sweetness (you enjoy the music and it is sweet) but due to the coldness and also the weather your tongue and teeth will be in pain(Due to the childhood and early twenties attached love affair in high school and university it will completely takes you to that state and it is highly nostalgic-the coldness).though you aint stop the icecream, as you aint stop listen aster's music .Thank you Astu , God bless You

My all time favorite Astu's song ምንድነው ምንድነው አንተ ልጅ it's a killer beat. Listening Aster day and night got me kicked out from college. Addicted to her songs back in the day. I almost in tear from nostalgia... National service, poverty, confusion, uncertainty of future of Ethiopia... My generation was so traumatized ... Thanks to immigration some of us partially healed.

The first time I listened this music, "Hode Mela" was while I was 12 years old and grade 5 @Ayalew Mekonen school, Durbete. The radio program had been provided under a big tree. I remember the melody of this music was used during Amharic course radio program. By the time I didn't know that the music was Aster's. Lots of memories...How many of you remember this? 1975, our Calander. Revising for my 10th grade exams. Didn’t have a tape-recorder but could hear a neighbour playing “Melahin Nigeregn” from this album. So distant, so faint, so soul-filling was the song I gazed at the horizon and drifted into a peaceful life that I can look back now and feel “I’m glad I was there and heard this song.” Thanks Aster for gifting us these happy memories.

This healing and soft voice of Aster is so sweet to listen to especially when you are missing home and living in Diaspora. When I first heard this song in the early 80's I was in Kenya and I cried like a baby remembering my family, friends and country! listening Aster's music is like eating an icecream in cold night. because you want to eat the icecream because of it is sweetness (you enjoy the music and it is sweet) but due to the coldness and also the weather your tongue and teeth will be in pain(Due to the childhood and early twenties attached love affair in high school and university it will completely takes you to that state and it is highly nostalgic-the coldness).though you aint stop the icecream, as you aint stop listen aster's music .Thank you Astu , God bless You welove you so much Aster................
