Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a game developed by Acme Gamestudios that caught my attention solely because of the art direction and the fact that I could purchase the game soundtrack. What it ended up being was a very ambitious title from an indie studio that showcases the talents and potential of the developers. The game is overflowing with passion and ambition, but almost to the point that some mechanics or design decisions feel like unnecessary additions to an otherwise fantastic game.
Thanks for watching!

I picked up this game for $20 and i gotta say it did surprise me. It was on sale at the time so i really had nothing to lose. It does have it set backs in terms of overall graphics and glitches. What surprised me was the gameplay and how many hours you can put into this. I think the developers did a good job here. If there is to be a sequel I'd like to see more improvement in the graphics

It's definitely a strong game. I haven't been able to play the DLC yet, but I'm itching to get back to it!

@@KyleSansL I'd recommend the dlc. There's a bit of platforming and lure. The $20 was a bundle with the dlc so I'd say get it

Asterigos is a pure gem for what is has been designed and what it is supposed to be ! What a surprise when I tried it and then fully felt in love with the story, the characters, the ambiance... Even the theme songs ! After The Witcher 3 and Control, this is my favorite game of all time for this genre ! Absolutely had a blast with it !

What keeps this game from being a 7 and a half maybe an eight out of 10 is no map that puts it down to about a 6 and a half it is so infuriating having to look up guides of where to go. Everything else is fine though I respect that you don't run out of magic for your spells that makes it easy and stamina is barely even a concern

This was definitely one of the better AA action RPGs of 2022

why do people say this is a souls like... its not Its inspired by Souls like games.. but its not its an action RPG/Hack and Slash similar to that off the old God of War games.

It definitely isn't intending to be as difficult as souls-like games, but in my opinion, it does draw inspiration from them in some capacity with certain combat mechanics, boss fights, and the way that areas are connected. I do agree that there is also influence from action RPG games, and I think the game does an admirable job of applying both concepts.

I'm really intrigued with this game(as it is somewhat reminiscent of an RPG for the PS2 as it were.."Drakan: The Ancient's Gates.) For a game that is just under 9GB(PS4)...the graphics are very pretty. It's on sale currently, so I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on it.

To the right of your XP, health and stamina bars is this little symbol that shows when you are able to level up through attribute and skill points, its an arrow pointing up inside a diamond, since going into your inventory screen pauses the game i always immediately distributed my points as soon as i leveled up each time, i mean its not that hard to tell when you level up, there is an obvious on screen effect when it happens, i dunno how it confused you, i thought it was pretty simple and obvious

It's not that I had trouble knowing when I leveled up, but that there wasn't a clear indication for the amount of XP received from completing quests or defeating enemies. The XP bar above your health does increase, but since you never see an explicit number for XP it was difficult to track/plan your next level up unless you're looking at the bar as often as possible.

Ummm most soulslikes are action RPGs, and the soulsborne games are made by Fromsoftware, a Japanese developer, thats why ppl call these types of games "soulslikes", because they are "like" the souls games, Sekiro is literally the only soulsborne game that isnt a RPG, as well as a handful of soulslike games like the Surge 2 and Remnant From the Ashes but the vast majority are action RPGs

I hate how overused the term "soulsborne" as become, just because a game has stamina management that doesn't make it a soulsborne

Too ambitious? It's better than Horizon. What I need is a physical copy. Classic Tomb Raider players don't need any maps. Hahaha!

Thanks for the feedback! The "bad" things I mentioned were mostly in my first few hours of getting familiar the game, but I did end up really enjoying the game as a whole. I think it's important to present both good and bad things as a means of constructive criticism.
