What a tumultuous end for Casey. Clearly the tape recorder could be Margo’s saving grace. The beeper mixup was great.

I watched this so many years ago and it still breaks my heart today and frustrated, again. Use the freaking tape recorder! It’s right there! And call his wife! Fudge!

I barely understood Oakdale's mass attorneys' (un)availabilities. Jessica expertly and loyally handled damn near every cast member's legal dramas from sunrise/sunset, and this Greg Hadley wasn't even reachable by telephone. Couldn't Casey have just called any random lawyer for a damn Living Will? Yes, I know the ultimate answer is story/plot development. Still, it was always so comical how Greg Hadley, Tom Hughes, or Jessica Griffin couldn't be "suddenly" reached at Casey's most desperate last hours.

The Casey storyline was so emotional and well played out. Poor Margo really trying & Ly & Maureen will not listen. Margo was so young here (why she could appear so hard at times I thought b/c shes a cop, but this history brings back a lot ), but Casey knew SHE would do what she had to do for him & Ly & Katie. Completely unselfish on her part.

Why did they give this actor such a terrible way to leave the show? First the disease and then give him hope with the new job and then kill him off. So awful.

@Chrissy Ellem If you noticed how Linc was introduced days before the actor who played Casey died, then you'll see a pattern with soaps. Killing off nonessential characters gave the networks & writers a chance to present "newer/better" storylines...at least in theory. Also, keep in mind the limited budget every daytime show adhered to, hence why they couldn't afford too many actors on their payroll.

i really wish they would have kept casey in the wheelchair since there's so little disabled representation isn't any media, let alone soaps. but soaps are made for tears and drama and it doesn't get more dramatic and tearful than this. casey talking about giving katie and lyla a better future with his death broke me. but the best soap storylines create ripples that effect the show for decades to come and casey's death did that. for margo, katie, and casey hughes himself. the show always found a way to keep his character alive and make it mean something. like stone on gh and megan on oltl. all three deaths not only need the audiences, but taught them something important and relevant to the real life illnesses they portrayed. soaps today rarely have the bravery in the will to commit to something like that.

Soaps today probably aren't given all the attention by their parent networks as they once did. Gone are the decades when fans(mostly homemakers)would eagerly spend the better part of nearly every weekday afternoon catching up to their favorite "stories."

@@chrissyellem7397 😂🤣 Both of my Grannies loaned me that phrase as a boy. They would always refer to them as “My stories”. I always think fondly of them when watching these old episodes.
